Purpose: Studies have shown mixed findings regarding the impact of stress on the success of fertility treatments. To the best of our knowledge, stress in the context of the workplace has not been investigated to date in relation to the success of fertility treatments. This research investigates the impact of work-related stress and emotional exhaustion experienced by both partners on in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment outcomes.

Emerging Novel Combined CAR-NK Cell Therapies in Cancer Treatment: Finding a Dancing Partner.

Mol Ther

January 2025

Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Medicine, School of Medicine, University of California, Irvine, CA; Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of California, Irvine, CA. Electronic address:

In recent decades, immunotherapy with chimeric antigen receptors (CAR) has revolutionized cancer treatment and given hope where other cancer therapies have failed. CAR-NK cells are NK cells that have been engineered ex vivo with a CAR on the cell membrane with high specificity for specific target antigens of tumor cells. The impressive results of several studies suggest that CAR-NK cell therapy has significant potential and successful performance in cancer treatment.

Short-length peptides are used as therapeutics due to their high target specificity and low toxicity; for example, peptides are designed for targeting the interaction between oncogenic protein p53 and E3 ubiquitin ligase MDM2. These peptide therapeutics form a class of successful inhibitors. To design such peptide-based inhibitors, stapling is one of the methods in which amino acid side chains are stitched together to get conformationally rigid peptides, ensuring effective binding to their partners.

In view of the high propensity of tertiary alkyl amines to be bioactive, the development of new methods for their synthesis is an important challenge. Transition-metal catalysis has the potential to greatly expand the scope of nucleophilic substitution reactions of alkyl electrophiles; unfortunately, in the case of alkyl amines as nucleophiles, only one success has been described so far: the selective mono-alkylation of primary amines to form secondary amines. Here, using photoinduced copper catalysis, we report the synthesis of tertiary alkyl amines from secondary amines and unactivated alkyl electrophiles, two readily available coupling partners.

Various behavioral health crisis models have been developed to advance the shared goals of improving behavioral health outcomes and increasing diversion from criminal legal systems. The effectiveness of these models is promising, yet research is needed to understand their comparative advantages. This study compares the effectiveness of three community mental health response models-co-response, mobile response, and office-based response-and law enforcement-only response in addressing key behavioral health and diversion goals.
