AI Article Synopsis

  • The study aimed to create and assess a structural equation model related to life-world integration in individuals with severe burns.
  • Data was collected in 2008 from 376 burn survivors through questionnaires, and analyzed using structural equation modeling.
  • Results showed that physical function directly impacts burn factors, while family support indirectly affects life-world integration, highlighting the need for direct improvements in physical function for better societal reintegration.

Article Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to construct and test a structural equation modeling on life-world integration in people with severe burns.

Methods: A survey design was used. Data were collected in 2008 from 376 people who had experienced severe burns using questionnaires. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling.

Results: The fitness parameters of the modified model (χ(2)/df = 3.15, goodness of fit: .91, normal fit index: .93, Tucker Lewis Index: .93, root mean square error of approximation: .07, root mean square residual: .04, and comparative fit index: .95) indicated its suitability as the research model. Physical function directly influenced burn factor, and family support indirectly influenced life-world integration.

Conclusion: Physical function should be directly improved to adjust to life-world integration. A comprehensive integration approach is also necessary to help people with severe burns successfully return to society.

Rural first-generation college students (FGCS) face significant barriers as they transition into the world of work, yet no studies have explored their career development using psychology of working theory (PWT). The present study aimed to examine the predictor and outcome portions of PWT with a sample of FGCS from rural China. We administered online surveys to 549 participants and employed structural equation modeling to analyze the data.

Objective: To examine the prevalence of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and intimate partner violence (IPV) among married couples in Nepal as well as the relationships among ACEs, IPV (psychological, sexual, physical), and psychological distress.

Method: The sample comprised the control group ( = 720) of a cluster randomized intervention trial among married women in Nepal. Interviewers assessed ACEs, IPV, quality of life, self-efficacy, and depressive symptoms among participants.

Objective: Sexual assault perpetration is widespread among young men. According to the Confluence Model, hostile masculinity and impersonal sex are trait-level factors associated with sexual assault perpetration likelihood. Additionally, state-level factors, including alcohol intoxication, current emotions, and ability to modulate one's emotions, have been tied to sexual assault perpetration via the I3 Model.

Adolescence is a period in which peer problems and emotional symptoms markedly increase in prevalence. However, the causal mechanisms regarding how peer problems cause emotional symptoms at a behavioral level and vice versa remain unknown. To address this gap, the present study investigated the longitudinal network of peer problems and emotional symptoms among Australian adolescents aged 12-14 years.
