Low-frequency noise in detection systems significantly affects the performance of ultrasensitive and ultracompact spin-exchange relaxation-free atomic magnetometers. High frequency modulation detection helps effectively suppress the 1/ noise and enhance the signal-to-noise ratio, but conventional modulators are bulky and restrict the development of integrated atomic magnetometer modulation-detection systems. Resonant metasurface-based thin-film lithium-niobate (TFLN) active optics can modulate free-space light within a compact configuration.

Van der Waals (vdW) semiconductors have emerged as promising platforms for efficient nonlinear optical conversion, including harmonic and entangled photon generation. Although major efforts are devoted to integrating vdW materials in nanoscale waveguides for miniaturization, the realization of efficient, phase-matched conversion in these platforms remains challenging. Here, to address this challenge, we report a far-field ultrafast imaging method to track the propagation of both fundamental and harmonic waves within vdW waveguides with femtosecond and sub-50 nanometre spatiotemporal precision.

A substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter (BPF) with extraordinary selectivity and an adequate upper stopband for C-band Satellite Communication (SATCOM) applications is proposed in this paper. The design comprises comb-shaped slots engraved on a half-mode SIW (HMSIW) that constitute a multimode resonator (MMR). Its performance is further ameliorated by applying the first and second iterations of the Minkowski fractal curve in the ground plane as a defected ground structure (DGS).

We integrate monolayer TMDCs into silicon-on-insulation (SOI) waveguides and dielectric-loaded surface plasmon polariton (DLSPP) waveguides to enhance nonlinear parameters (γ) of silicon-based waveguides. By optimizing the waveguide geometry, we have achieved significantly improved γ. In MoSe-on-SOI and MoSe-in-DLSPP waveguide with optimized geometry, the maximum γ at the excitonic resonant peak (λ) is 5001.
