A test system has been developed for determination of propionic bacterial species residing on human skin. This system developed in the real time PCR format is applicable for quantitative determination and also detection of genomes of the following Propionibacterium species: P. acnes, P. granulosum and P. avidum. This system was used for analysis of wash samples from the skin of 17 pentathlon sportsmen and 16 students. All three species of propionic bacteria were found in all skin wash samples. However, contamination with P. acnes was two times higher in control group than in the group of pentathlon sportsmen.

Background: Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) is an evidence-based pedagogical approach that uses art analysis and structured inquiry to enhance observation, critical thinking, and teamwork, especially in medical training for clinical skills development. This study aimed to compare the short-term and delayed follow-up effects of integrating Visual Thinking Strategies and Visual Thinking Activity (VTA) tasks based on the PRISM Model with Observation Exercises (OE) on medical students' observation skills, including the number of observations, number of words used, and time spent describing observations.
Method: This pre- and post-test experimental study with a control group was conducted among first-year medical students at Gonabad University of Medical Sciences during the 2023-2024 academic year.

Carbon dots doped with metals and non-metals have gained much popularity due to the enhancement in their optical and electronic properties. In this study, polyethyleneimine-functionalized transition metal (nickel or copper) doped carbon dots (CD, NiCD and CuCD) were synthesized through hydrothermal method. The carbon dots exhibited a blue fluorescence at 470 nm when excited at 350 nm.
