Flow velocity waveforms in the fetal internal carotid artery during fetal behavioural state 2F were compared with blood gas and acid-base data from fetal scalp blood samples immediately following artificial rupture of the membranes in 17 normal term pregnancies. The pulsatility index in the fetal internal carotid artery was positively related to PO2 and base excess suggesting that also under physiological conditions fetal cerebral vascular resistance may respond to changes in fetal oxygenation.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) affects over 10% of all pregnancies, both in Korea and worldwide. GDM not only increases the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes such as preeclampsia, preterm birth, macrosomia, neonatal hypoglycemia, and shoulder dystocia, but it also significantly increases the risk of developing postpartum type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease in the mother. Additionally, GDM is linked to a higher risk of childhood obesity and diabetes in offspring, as well as neurodevelopmental disorders, including autistic spectrum disorder.

Cluster of Differentiation 6 (CD6), an established marker of T cells, has multiple and complex functions in regulation of T cell activation and proliferation, and in adhesion of T cells to antigen-presenting cells and epithelial cells in various organs and tissues. Early studies on CD6 demonstrated its role in mediating cell-cell interactions through its first ligand to be identified, CD166/ALCAM. The observation of CD6-dependent functions of T cells that could not be explained by interactions with CD166/ALCAM led to discovery of a second ligand, CD318/CDCP1.
