Background: Sepsis, a major global health concern, leads to millions of deaths annually, hence the need for early and reliable prognostic tools to assess patient risk and guide clinical decision making becomes crucial. This cross-sectional study evaluated the prognostic accuracy of integrating blood lactate and serum procalcitonin (PCT) levels with the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) for predicting mortality in sepsis patients. The objective was to assess whether this lactate and procalcitonin integrated with NEWS score (LP NEWS) could serve as a more effective early prognostic tool compared to established severity scores.

Background: Neonatal sepsis is a significant cause of mortality in children under 5 years of age globally, with the highest incidence reported in India. The challenges in diagnosing neonatal sepsis often result in the irrational use of antibiotics. The aim of the study was to determine the diagnostic efficacy of interleukin 27 (IL-27) as a novel biomarker for the early diagnosis of neonatal sepsis.

Methods: Patients who were diagnosed with CBD stones and underwent ERCP from December 2021 to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects. According to whether postoperative complications occurred, they were divided into complication group (n = 28) and non-complication group (n = 132).
Background: The aim of this study was to explore the clinical application value of serum inflammatory markers in the diagnosis and treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in elderly men.
Methods: From April 2023 through July 2023, 110 BPH patients and 120 healthy individuals who underwent examinations at our hospital were selected as study subjects. The concentrations of C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), serum amyloid A (SAA), complement 3 (C3), and complement 4 (C4) were measured in both groups.

Objectives: To evaluate the role of serum procalcitonin (PCT) as a diagnostic tool to differentiate bacterial sepsis from flare-ups during febrile episodes in children with known rheumatic disorders compared to other inflammatory markers like C-reactive protein (CRP), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR).
Methods: Previously diagnosed patients with known rheumatic disorders presenting in emergency or outpatient departments with febrile episodes were included in the study. Blood samples were collected upon admission to test for signs of infection, including serum PCT levels with routine laboratory and radiological tests.
