In this paper, density functional theory (DFT) calculation was employed to study the adsorption of nitric oxide (NO) on the highly reactive anatase TiO2 (001) surface. For comparison, the adsorption of NO on the (101) surface was also considered. Different from the physical adsorption on the (101) surface, NO molecules are found to chemisorb on the TiO2 (001) surface. The twofold coordinate oxygen atoms (O2c) on the anatase (001) surface are the active sites. Where NO is oxidized into a nitrite species (NO2(-)) trapping efficiently on the surface, with one of the surface Ti5c-O2c bonds adjacent to the adsorption site broken. Our results, therefore, supply a theoretical guidance to remove NO pollutants using highly reactive anatase TiO2 (001) facets.

This trial assessed the variability of energy metabolisability in four varieties of barley, rye, and wheat based on changes in energy and nutrient flow estimations in excreta. Twelve diets were created by combining 40% of each cereal variety and 60% of a common mixture, divided into enzyme-supplemented and non-supplemented versions, resulting in 24 experimental diets that included TiO and YbO as indigestible markers. A total of 432 one-day-old broilers were distributed into 72 cages and fed a single diet from day 1 to 15.

Substitution metal doping strategies are crucial for developing catalysts capable of activating O, but the leaching of metal dopants has greatly hindered their potential for extensive oxidation reactions under mild conditions. Here, the study develops an entropy-increase strategy to synthesize high-entropy metal (Mg, Ca, Mn, Fe, and Co) interstitial functionalized anatase TiO (HE-TiO) nanosheets, demonstrating remarkable degradation efficiency across a wide pH range and exceptional stability in a flow-by electro-catalytic reactor. Relative to that of pristine TiO, the intense lattice distortion on the (001) plane, an average lattice expansion of 2% on the (100) plane, and decrease of second shell peak of X-ray absorption spectra serve as compelling evidence for the formation of metal interstitials in HE-TiO.

The photocatalytic efficiency of TiO has been opposed by the fast recombination speed of photogenerated carriers. Here, g-CN -modified sulfate-built-in TiO quantum dots (ST-QDs) were successfully created using a simple ultrasonication-thermal procedure. g-CN-enrapped ST QDs with a 10 nm size were revealed by the characterization results.

Metal oxide photocatalysts loaded with metal species are extremely important in photocatalysis. The physicochemical states of metal species, as well as the interaction between metal species and support, determine the transfer of charge carriers between the heterointerface, which has a significant impact on photocatalytic activity. Here, we prepared anatase TiO nanosheets (TIO) modified with different Ag species, including single atoms, clusters, and nanoparticles, using a ligand-mediated method.

To assess the protective effects of (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a natural antioxidant, against cellular oxidative damage induced by titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2-NPs), Human Colon cells NCM460 and Colon Cancer cells SW620 were selected for this study. The cells were divided into three groups: control group, TiO2-NPs (80 μg/mL) exposure group, and EGCG (20 μmol/L)+TiO2-NPs (80 μg/mL) co-exposure group. The study evaluated the precipitation rate of TiO2-NPs influenced by EGCG in a cell-free system.
