Conjugate materials can provide chemical functionality, enabling an assembly of the ligand complexation ability to metal ions that are important for applications, such as separation and removal devices. In this study, we developed ligand immobilized conjugate adsorbent for selective cesium (Cs) removal from wastewater. The adsorbent was synthesized by direct immobilization of dibenzo-24-crown-8 ether onto inorganic mesoporous silica. The effective parameters such as solution pH, contact time, initial Cs concentration and ionic strength of Na and K ion concentrations were evaluated and optimized systematically. This adsorbent was exhibited the high surface area-to-volume ratios and uniformly shaped pores in case cavities, and its active sites kept open functionality to taking up Cs. The obtained results revealed that adsorbent had higher selectivity toward Cs even in the presence of a high concentration of Na and K and this is probably due to the Cs-π interaction of the benzene ring. The proposed adsorbent was successfully applied for radioactive Cs removal to be used as the potential candidate in Fukushima nuclear wastewater treatment. The adsorbed Cs was eluted with suitable eluent and simultaneously regenerated into the initial form for the next removal operation after rinsing with water. The adsorbent retained functionality despite several cycles during sorption-elution-regeneration operations.

We study resonance redistribution mechanisms inside a hot vapor cell. This is achieved by pumping cesium atoms on the 6S→6P resonance and subsequently probing the velocity distribution of the 6P population by a linear absorption experiment on the 6P→16S or 6P→15D transitions at 514 nm and 512 nm, respectively. We demonstrate that despite the existence of thermalization processes, traces of the initial velocity selection, imposed by the pump, survive in hyperfine levels of the intermediate (6P) state.

This paper presents a novel investigation of a magnetic sensor that employs Fano/Tamm resonance within the photonic band gap of a one-dimensional crystal structure. The design incorporates a thin layer of gold (Au) alongside a periodic arrangement of Tantalum pentoxide ([Formula: see text]) and Cesium iodide ([Formula: see text]) in the configuration [Formula: see text]. We utilized the transfer matrix method in conjunction with the Drude model to analyze the formation of Fano/Tamm states and the permittivity of the metallic layer, respectively.

Invasive alien species such as freshwater snails have significantly affected the food, environment, and the health of humans and animals, which have unfortunately received insufficient attention. To facilitate the study of viromes in snail species, we compared the enrichment effect of cesium chloride (CsCl) and sucrose density gradient ultracentrifugations in the recovery of diverse viruses in Pomacea canaliculata and Achatina fulica. First, we showed that CsCl-based ultracentrifugation enriched more virus contigs and reduced the nucleic acid background of the Pomacea canaliculata and was thus beneficial for virus recovery.

Objective: To assess the dynamics of changes in the number of deaths due to injury, poisoning and certain other consequences of external causes and their structure among liquidators of the accident at the Chornobyl NPP (PACL) on the basis of the data of Ukraine's State Register of Persons Affected by the Chornobyl Disaster (SRU) for 2000-2020.
Materials And Methods: The study used information resources of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for 2000-2020 regarding deaths among the PACL - databases of the SRU as a basis for monitoring their health status. Depersonalised information was selected for 2000-2020 regarding 5,124 deaths from injury, poisoning and certain other consequences of external causes (ICD codes S00-T98) among the PACL, who were monitored in healthcare facilitiesof the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
