We demonstrated a continuous-wave (cw) and pulsed optical vortex with topological charges driven by heat generated during the lasing process without introducing the astigmatism effect and reducing lasing efficiency. During the lasing process, the topological charges were changeable by the thermal-induced lens and selected by the mode-matching between the pump and oscillating beams. With a graphene sample as the saturable absorber, a pulsed optical vortex was achieved at a wavelength of 1.36 μm, which identified that graphene could be used as a pulse modulator for the generation of a pulsed optical vortex. Thermally driven cw and pulsed optical vortexes should have various promising applications based on the compact structure, changeable topological charges, and specific wavelength.

Background: Optic neuritis, commonly associated with multiple sclerosis (MS), can also occur in the context of hypocalcemia as a rare intriguing clinical scenario. Most recent articles have reported the association of papilledema and hypoparathyroidism, However, very rarely, case reports revealed hypocalcemia-induced optic neuritis as well as our case.
Case Presentation: We report a 43-year-old woman with a history of hypocalcemia presenting with optic neuritis, characterized by sudden vision loss, painful eye movements, and pulsatile headache.

In this study, we aim to explore the soliton phenomena in fully nonlinear complex perturbed Gerdjikov-Ivanov equation (PGIE). To address this problematic issue, this paper presents a multichannel parallel high-saturation optical power-balanced photodetection technique that uses parallel reception to enhance the detector's received power, thereby improving the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and system sensitivity.
