Article Abstract

A glycosidic flavanone miconioside C () has been isolated from the methanolic extract of the stems of , together with 7--β-D-apiofuranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranosylmatteucinol (), miconioside B (), matteucinol (), farrerol () and desmethoxymatteucinol (). Their structures were mainly established by extensive NMR studies (H NMR, C NMR, DEPT, H-H COSY, HSQC, HMBC) and mass spectrometry. The compounds - were evaluated for binding assays using cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2).

Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that impairs neurocognitive functions. Acetylcholinesterase, Butyrylcholinesterase, Monoamine Oxidase B, Beta-Secretase, and Glycogen Synthase Kinase Beta play central roles in its pathogenesis. Current medications primarily inhibit AChE but fail to halt or reverse disease progression due to the multifactorial nature of Alzheimer's.

Citrus fruits are widely distributed in East Asia, and tea made from citrus peels has demonstrated health benefits, such as a reduction in fever, inflammation, and high blood pressure. However, citrus leaves have not been evaluated extensively for their possible health benefits. In this study, the α-glucosidase-inhibitory activity of Jeju citrus hot-water (CW) and ethyl alcohol (CE) extracts, along with hesperidin (HP) (a bioactive compound in citrus leaf extracts), was investigated, and furthermore, their effect on postprandial blood glucose reduction in an animal model was determined.

Flavonoids derived from plants in the citrus family can have an alleviating effect on allergic asthma. The aim of this study was to provide insights into the mechanisms by which these compounds exert their effects on allergic asthma by combining theoretical and practical approaches. Aurantii Fructus Immaturus flavonoids (AFIFs) were obtained by solvent extraction and were determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is one of the most prevalent viruses that causes severe acute lower respiratory tract infections (ALRTIs) in the elderly and young children. There is no specific drug to treat RSV, only a broad-spectrum antiviral, ribavirin, which is only used in critical cases. Our research group is investigating antiviral agents of natural origin, such as coumarins and flavonoids, that may help reduce or prevent RSV infection.

The therapeutic role of naringenin nanoparticles on hepatocellular carcinoma.

BMC Pharmacol Toxicol

Biochemistry Department, Faculty of Science, Tanta University, Tanta, Egypt.

Background: Naringenin, a flavonoid compound found in citrus fruits, possesses valuable anticancer properties. However, its potential application in cancer treatment is limited by poor bioavailability and pharmacokinetics at tumor sites. To address this, Naringenin nanoparticles (NARNPs) were prepared using the emulsion diffusion technique and their anticancer effects were investigated in HepG2 cells.
