Chemical investigation of fruits of Mours alba L. lead to the isolation of fifteen compounds by various chromatographies such as silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, RP-C18 column chromatography. Their structures were determined to be: 1-[5-(2-formlfuryl) methyl] dihydrogen 2-hydroxypropane-1, 2, 3-tricarboxylate 2, 3-diethyl ester (1), 1-[2-(furan-2-yl)-2-oxoethyl] pyrrolidin-2-one (2), divaricataester A (3), methyl 1-[2-(furan-2-yl)-2-oxoethyl]-5-oxopyrrolidine-2-carboxylate (4), 1-[2-(furan-2-yl)-2-oxoethyl]-5-oxopyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid (5), L-pyroglutamic acid (6), L-pyroglutamic acid ethyl ester (7), 3-O-caffeoylquinic acid methyl ester (8), 3-O-caffeoylquinic acid ethyl ester (9), 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid methyl ester (10), 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid ethyl ester (11), 4-O-caffeoylquinic acid methyl ester (12), 4-O-caffeoylquinic acid methyl ester (13), 4-O-caffeoylquinic acid (14), 3-O-caffeoylquinic acid (15), respectively, based on the spectral analysis such as NMR, MS etc. Compounds 1-14 were isolated from this genus for the first time, among which 1 was a new compound.

The integrated stress response (ISR) is a conserved eukaryotic signaling pathway that responds to diverse stress stimuli to restore proteostasis. The strength and speed of ISR activation must be tuned properly to allow protein synthesis while maintaining proteostasis. Here, we describe how genetic perturbations change the dynamics of the ISR in budding yeast.

Phenol-Quinone Redox Couples of Natural Organic Matter Promote Mercury Methylation in Paddy Soil.

Environ Sci Technol

January 2025

National-Regional Joint Engineering Research Center for Soil Pollution Control and Remediation in South China, Guangdong Key Laboratory of Integrated Agro-environmental Pollution Control and Management, Institute of Eco-environmental and Soil Sciences, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou 510650, China.

Methylmercury in paddy soils poses threats to food security and thus human health. Redox-active phenolic and quinone moieties of natural organic matter (NOM) mediate electron transfer between microbes and mercury during mercury reduction. However, their role in mercury methylation remains elusive.

Micromycetes from the genus Alternaria are commonly found in plant food raw materials, and their produced emerging mycotoxins (EMT) pose a risk to human health. Based on polyphase taxonomy, we studied the species composition of the Alternaria spp. population in samples of Russian grain and berries; non-toxinogenic species of Alternaria of the Infectoriae section and toxinogenic species of the Alternaria section were found.

DMR040, a potential antifungal compound.

J Antibiot (Tokyo)

January 2025

Shanghai Duomirui Biotechnology Ltd., Shanghai, China.

Based on DMR022 [(AEEA-Gly)-AEEA-amphotericin B methyl ester, AEEA is the abbreviation of 8-amino-3,6-dioxaoctanoic acid] and DMR031 [(AEEA)-amphotericin B methyl ester], DMR040 [(AEEA)-amphotericin B methyl ester] was further designed and synthesised. Firstly, DMR040 was assessed for its antifungal activity and haemolytic toxicity with the broth dilution method and sterile defibrinated sheep blood, respectively. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of DMR040 (2 μg/mL) against Candida albicans ATCC 10231 and ATCC 90028 was reduced by 2 times compared to that of amphotericin B (1 μg/mL).

It is of great significance to develop sensors for trace pesticide residues detection in food. Herein, an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensor with high sensitivity for the detection of methyl parathion (MP) was constructed by combining of the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme-inhibited reaction with tris-2,2'-bipyridyl ruthenium Ru(bpy) -triethylamine (TEA) system for the first time. A new ECL probe of MIL-100 loaded with Ru(bpy) (Ru-MIL-100) was synthesized, and then Ru-MIL-100 and AChE were immobilized on the electrode with Nafion.
