We agree with the author that a quantitative analysis of the predictive nature of the metrics used in graduate student admissions is a worthy pursuit and value the sincere intentions behind the UCSF Tetrad study. However, these types of analyses would benefit from the same rigorous approaches that we employ in our other research endeavors. As UCSF Tetrad graduates with diverse careers in academia, medicine, industry, and publishing, we hope that the definition of success in graduate school can be as thoughtfully and scientifically examined as the measurements used to select the next young people to follow in our footsteps.

The ability to quench reactive oxygen species (ROS) overproduced in plant chloroplasts under light stress conditions is essential for securing plant photosynthetic performance and agricultural yield. Although genetic engineering can enhance plant stress resistance, its widespread application faces limitations due to challenges in successful transformation across plant species and public acceptance concerns. This study proposes a nontransgenic chemical approach using a designed chimeric peptide that scavenges ROS within plant chloroplasts for managing light stress.

Methodology: A comprehensive review was conducted by searching PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO, and Google Scholar for peer-reviewed articles, policy papers, and reports from the past 20 years.

An 82-year-old woman with a history of myocardial infarction presented with worsening effort angina. Coronary angiography (CAG) revealed 75% stenosis in the proximal left anterior descending artery (LAD), with intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) identifying a severe calcified nodule near a previously implanted drug-eluting stent. The lesion was treated with intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) and a drug-coated balloon (DCB), avoiding left main crossover stenting.

Although the Diels-Alder reaction (DA) has garnered significant attention due to its numerous advantages, its long reaction time is a drawback. Herein, we investigated the effects of polarity difference on DA using Layer-by-Layer (LbL) films comprising polycationic polyallylamine hydrochloride and polyanionic poly (styrenesulfonic acid-co-furfuryl methacrylate) [poly (SS--FMA)] as the reaction environment. First, furan composition in poly (SS--FMA) was adjusted to be 19 mol% to achieve good water solubility and layer deposition.
