Isolated inferior oblique muscle palsy is the least common of all extra-ocular muscle palsies and very few reports are available in the literature. It can present a formidable therapeutic challenge to the ophthalmologist, as treatment options need to be titrated on an individual basis. A patient of 60 years old of idiopathic right inferior oblique palsy who underwent an adjustable superior rectus recession in his left eye, with a satisfactory surgical outcome and symptomatic resolution of diplopia is reported.
Background: acquired exotropia mostly manifests as an intermittent form, and very few cases show constant exotrpia. However, the differences in the clinical features of the constant and intermittent exotropia patients has not been clear yet.
Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 6159 patients with exotropia from 2012 to 2022 in Farabi Eye Hospital, Tehran, Iran.
Purpose: To evaluate the utility of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values of extraocular muscles (EOMs) in differentiating activity of thyroid eye disease (TED).
Method: Forty-two TED patients who underwent diffusion tensor imaging(DTI) were retrospectively enrolled in this study, including 29 patients in analysis group and 13 patients in validation group. The mean, maximum and minimum ADC value of each EOM were regarded as ADCmean, ADCmax and ADCmin.
In the setting of trauma, occurrence of intracapsular lipo-hemarthrosis is not uncommon, highly useful and well known imaging finding. Occurrence of extracapsular lipohaemarthrosis is uncommon and have been noticed around the large joints like knee, hip, and shoulder joints. Extracapsular lipohaemarthrosis is rare especially around small joints like wrist joint.
Purpose: Frontalis sling surgery is a common method for ptosis correction for both pediatric and adult populations. This study aims to compare the characteristics and outcomes of this surgery in these two populations.
Absract: PURPOSE: To investigate the signal intensity ratio (SIR) of orbital tissue to white matter in orbital magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for assessing graves' orbitopathy (GO).
Methods: This study enrolled a total of 42 patients (79 eyes) with GO as the GO group, 10 patients (20 eyes) diagnosed with graves' disease (GD) without orbitopathy during the same period as the GD group, and 23 normal individuals with negative MRI results and no thyroid or eye diseases as the healthy control (HC) group. The signal intensity of the lacrimal gland (LG), extraocular muscle (EOM), ipsilateral temporal muscle (TM), ramus mandibulae, and white matter (WM) on MRI images was measured.
