Dirty necrosis within glandular lumina is often considered as a characteristic of colorectal carcinomas (CRCs) that is a diagnostically useful feature of CRCs with DNA microsatellite instability (MSI). Multiphoton microscopy (MPM), which is based on the second-harmonic generation and two-photon excited fluorescence signals, was used to identify dirty necrosis. Our results demonstrated that MPM has the ability to exhibit the microstructure of dirty necrosis and the signal intensity as well as an emission spectrum that can help to differentiate dirty necrosis from cancer cells. These findings indicate that MPM may be helpful in distinguishing MSI colorectal carcinoma via the identification of dirty necrosis.

Rheumatoid meningitis (RM) presents with sufficiently wide-ranging, but non-specific, symptoms and neuroimaging features of pachy- and/or leptomeningeal thickening that it may be indistinguishable from subacute infectious meningitis. RA diagnosis variably antedates RM and serological confirmation by rheumatoid factor and anti-citrullinated peptide antibodies may not be present preoperatively. Thus, meningeal biopsy may be undertaken.

Pulmonary pleomorphic carcinoma (PC) is a rare non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) with a poor prognosis, characterized by tumor necrosis (TN). NETosis is a form of neutrophil-specific cell death, which is morphologically characterized by prominent neutrophil infiltration and cell detritus in the necrotic foci. Seventy-six patients with pulmonary PC who underwent complete resection were enrolled.

Mortality of chicken embryos and first-week chickens was reported in a commercial incubator company in Costa Rica. Six 1-day-old Cobb chickens and twenty-four embryonated chicken eggs were examined in the Laboratory of Avian Pathology and the Laboratory of Bacteriology of the National University of Costa Rica. Twelve dead-in-shell embryos showed maceration and were immersed in a putrid, turbid, slightly thick brown liquid.
