Colors are frequently added to disposable diapers to enhance the diapering experience. The colors in the interior of diapers are composed of nonsensitizing pigments that are bound during the fiber-making process into the fibers of the nonwoven that covers the absorbent core materials. In the past, the use of color in diapers has been called into question based on the presumed use of disperse dyes, known sensitizers in the textile industry, and erroneous reports in literature. In fact, disperse dyes are not used in leading disposable diapers; the colors used in these disposable diapers are nonsensitizing pigments with favorable safety profiles. Numerous safety tests, such as skin patch tests with pigments used on diaper backsheets, have found no evidence of skin irritation or sensitization.

Objective: To describe features and habits of diaper area care and compare the frequency of diaper dermatitis in infants using cloth diapers with those using disposable diapers.
Methods: Questionnaires were administered to families with infants who had not started potty training, to assess the frequency of diaper rash in two groups: babies who use exclusively cloth diapers (CD), and others with exclusively disposable diapers (DD). The hygiene methods of the perineal region and the skin lesions frequency were evaluated.

Full bio-degradation of super absorbent hydrogels (SAHs), which possess excellent water uptake capacity, is still challenging. In developing countries, there is currently no established waste management plan that includes resource recovery from used disposable diapers (DDs) apart from incineration and landfilling. In low-income areas with limited storage space, the complex composition and odour of used DDs make it impossible to manage properly if not supported by effective waste management systems. In the absence of effective waste management, DDs are dumped in open spaces, burned or buried.
