A procedure has been developed to follow degradation of energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) X-ray lateral resolution in a variable pressure scanning electron microscope. This procedure is based on evaluation of the EDS profile shape change for different experimental conditions. Some parameters affecting the X-ray resolution in high-vacuum mode have been taken into account. Good agreement between the simulated and experimental EDS profiles shows the reliability of the proposed procedure. A significant improvement in measurement of the EDS profile interfacial distance (DINT) has been achieved.

Water pollution, oxidative stress and the emergence of multidrug-resistant bacterial strains are significant global threats that require urgent attention to protect human health. Nanocomposites that combine multiple metal oxides with carbon-based materials have garnered significant attention due to their synergistic physicochemical properties and versatile applications in both environmental and biomedical fields. In this context, the present study was aimed at synthesizing a ternary metal-oxide nanocomposite consisting of silver oxide, copper oxide, and zinc oxide (ACZ-NC), along with a multi-walled carbon nanotubes modified ternary metal-oxide nanocomposite (MWCNTs@ACZ-NC).

In the present study, metal-organic frameworks, MIL-101(Fe) and MIL-53(Al), were synthesized under solvothermal conditions and were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray energy diffraction spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The synthesized metal-organic frameworks were utilized for the purpose of dispersive micro-solid phase extraction of sorafenib in both human plasma and wastewater, which was subsequently followed by high performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet determination. Parameters affecting extraction efficacy including adsorbent amount, ionic strength, pH, type of elution solvent, adsorption and desorption time were optimized.

Facile phase selective synthesis of copper antimony sulphide (CAS) nanostructures is important because of their tunable photoconductive and electrochemical properties. In this study, off-stoichiometric famatinite phase CAS (CAS) quasi-spherical and quasi-hexagonal colloidal nanostructures (including nanosheets) of sizes, 2.4-18.

This study presents the synthesis of a Cd(II) based hydrophobic three dimensional crystalline network material (CNM), [Cd(L)(LH)(bpe)], {L = {4,4'-(hexafluroisopropylidine)bis(benzoate)} and 1,2-di(4-pyridyl) ethylene (bpe)}, 1(Cd), by employing the slow-diffusion method. The three-dimensional structure of 1(Cd) was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), FT-IR spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Subsequently, post-synthetic modification of 1(Cd) with Cu(II) at room temperature led to the formation of isostructural 1(Cu) with partial substitution.

In our work, we report superior electrochemical performance of optimized 3D nanostructured, nickel-cobalt carbonate hydroxide hydrate (NiCo-CHH (1 ≤ x ≤ 2)) materials with flower like morphology synthesised via one-step hydrothermal methods. A Ni rich sample (x = 1) demonstrate better specific capacitance and the improvement is attributed to more oxygen deficient neighbourhood of Ni compared to that of Co. The structural, morphological and electronic properties of the samples were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), field emission electron microscopy (FESEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).
