Glycolipid biosurfactant synthesized by nonpathogenic strain Rhodococcus ruber IEGM231 modulated the production of ROS and IL-8 by peripheral blood neutrophils in spontaneous and stimulated cultures. Secretion of IL-1β и TNF-α by neutrophils in the presence of biosurfactant changed insignificantly.

Microbial biosurfactants have garnered significant interest from industry due to their lower toxicity, biodegradability, activity at lower concentrations and higher resistance compared to synthetic surfactants. The deep-sea Rhodococcus sp. I2R has been identified as a producer of glycolipid biosurfactants, specifically succinoyl trehalolipids, which exhibit antiviral activity.

Global environmental concerns drive research toward the development of new eco-friendly compounds to replace pollutant chemicals. This study focuses on optimizing the production of trehalose lipids (TLs), which are glycolipid biosurfactants (BS) with various applications like antimicrobial or surface tension reduction. New microorganism sources, growth conditions, medium composition, purification conditions, and physicochemical properties of TLs are studied.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are ubiquitous persistent organic pollutants in soil, which have carcinogenic, teratogenic and mutagenic hazards. The effects of rhamnolipid (RL), nano zero-valent iron (nZVI), and anthraquinone-2,6-disulfonic acid (AQDS) on the degradation of PAHs in soil were studied. It was found that the treatment of 5 mg·kgRL + 1% nZVI +0.
