In this study, a biodegradable thermo-sensitive hydrogel from poly(trimethylene carbonate)15-F127-poly(trimethylene carbonate)15 (PTMC15-F127-PTMC15) was designed and evaluated as an injectable implant during ocular glaucoma filtration surgery in vivo and in vitro. Mitomycin C (MMC) was loaded into this hydrogel for controlled released to prolong the efficacy and to reduce the long-term toxicity. The properties of the hydrogel were confirmed using 1H NMR and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Compared to the Pluronic F127 hydrogel, the PTMC15-F127-PTMC15 hydrogel showed a good solution-gel transition temperature at 37°C, a lower work concentration of 5% w/v and a longer mass loss time of more than 2 weeks. The in vitro study showed that the drug could be released from PTMC15-F127-PTMC15 (5% w/v) hydrogel for up to 16 days with only 57% of drug released in the first day. Moreover, the cell toxicity, which was tested via LDH and ANNEXIN V/PI, decreased within 72 h in human tenon's fibroblast cells (HTFs). The in vivo behavior in a rabbit glaucoma filtration surgery model indicated that this hydrogel loaded with 0.1 mg/ml MMC led to a better functional bleb with a prolonged mean bleb survival time (25.5±2.9 days). The scar tissue formation, new collagen deposition and myofibroblast generation appeared to be reduced upon histological and immunohistochemistry examinations, with no obvious side effects and inflammatory reactions. The in vitro and in vivo results demonstrated that this novel hydrogel is a safe and effective drug delivery candidate in ocular glaucoma surgery.

Elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) is a significant risk factor for glaucoma, causing structural and functional damage to the eye. Increased IOP compromises the metabolic and structural integrity of retinal ganglion cell (RGC) axons, leading to progressive degeneration and influencing the ocular immune response. This study investigated early cellular and molecular changes in the retina and optic nerve (ON) following ocular hypertension (OHT).

Prcis: In 801 participants, corneal hysteresis (CH) was positively associated with female gender and central corneal thickness, and negatively with age and axial length. Diabetes showed no significant association with CH in the adjusted models.
Purpose: To provide values of corneal hysteresis (CH) in an elderly, healthy Greek population and to investigate its association with demographic, ocular, and systemic factors.

Purpose: To assess real-world efficacy and safety of standalone travoprost intracameral implant (iDose TR) implantation by a US glaucoma surgeon in patients with open-angle glaucoma (OAG) or ocular hypertension (OHT).
Methods: This non-randomized, retrospective, unmasked, consecutive case series included all cases of standalone iDose TR implantation from a single US glaucoma surgeon since the product's approval by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in December 2023. Patients were pseudophakic, had OAG or OHT, and had undergone prior SLT and/or bimatoprost intracameral implant injection (Durysta).
Purpose: To assess the safety and efficacy of a modified suprachoroidal silicone tube (SST) shunt in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and pseudo-exfoliative glaucoma (PXG) in this experimental study.
Methods: In this single-center, retrospective longitudinal data analysis 66 eyes of 59 patients having POAG and PXG were included and treated with modified SST shunt in combination with cataract or as a stand-alone procedure. Pre- and postoperative intraocular pressure (IOP), best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), C/D ratio and ocular adverse events (AEs) were assessed in all participants.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the difference in the incidence of the hypertensive phase (HP) between Ahmed glaucoma valve (AGV) patients who received intracameral air injection and those who did not. A total of 78 patients who underwent AGV surgery between January 1, 2016 and June 30, 2023 were included in this retrospective study. HP was defined as intraocular pressure (IOP) greater than 21 mmHg within the first 6 postoperative months.
