A solution to the problem of resonant tunneling current saturation is proposed. This problem does not allow, within the traditional compact models, a correct qualitative and quantitative analysis to be carried out of the volt-ampere characteristics of double-barrier heterostructures. The reason for this problem is the asymptotic behavior of the function describing the structure transparency, so a non-saturating compact model was proposed to solve the problem of current transfer analysis in the region of negative differential conductivity.

Engineered ipilimumab variants that bind human and mouse CTLA-4.

MAbs

December 2025

Biotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine, AbbVie, South San Francisco, CA, USA.

Testing of candidate monoclonal antibody therapeutics in preclinical models is an essential step in drug development. Identification of antibody therapeutic candidates that bind their human targets and cross-react to mouse orthologs is often challenging, especially for targets with low sequence homology. In such cases, surrogate antibodies that bind mouse orthologs must be used.

Thermochromic smart windows have been widely developed for building energy saving. However, most smart windows suffer from limited energy-saving performance, fixed phase transition temperature, and are not suitable for the temperature regulation needs of different application scenarios. Herein, a unique self-adaptive thermochromic hydrogel (HBPEC-PNA) with self-moisture-absorbing performance is reported that assembles solar energy cooling and evaporative heat dissipation.

Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are creating unprecedented climate-driven extreme weather, with levels of heat and humidity surpassing human physiological tolerance for heat stress. These conditions create a risk of mass casualties, with some populations particularly vulnerable due to physiological, behavioural and socioeconomic conditions (eg, lack of adequate shelter, limited healthcare infrastructure, sparse air conditioning access and electrical grid vulnerabilities). Children, especially young children, are uniquely vulnerable to extreme heat-related morbidity and mortality due to factors including low body mass, high metabolism, suboptimal thermoregulatory mechanisms and behavioural vulnerabilities.

Female athletes explicitly gesture in emotional situations.

Front Psychol

January 2025

Department of Motor Behavior in Sports, Institute of Health Promotion and Clinical Movement Science, German Sport University Cologne, Cologne, Germany.

Introduction: Both appraisal emotion approaches and self-regulation theory emphasize that appraising an event as conducive or detrimental to one's current goals may trigger an affective response that can be observed nonverbally. Because there may be a female advantage in the inhibition and self-regulation of emotions, we hypothesized that female but not male athletes regulate emotions during sports through explicit nonverbal behaviors.

Methods: All nonverbal hand movement behavior of right-handed female and male tennis athletes was recorded during competitive matches.
