Between 1 November 2013 and 31 March 2014, concurrent shigellosis and cryptosporidiosis outbreaks occurred among men who have sex with men in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, 75% of whom were HIV-infected. Current HIV/AIDS strategy emphasizing treatment as prevention may effectively decrease HIV transmission, but raises concerns about other diseases if safer sex messages are de-emphasized.

The position of the mental foramen is reported to change with age. This study aimed to examine age-related changes in the position of the mental foramen in men and women. Among 200 cases (age 21-100 years; 400 foramina) that underwent postmortem computed tomography, 109 (age 21-93 years; 218 foramina) with mandibular first and second premolars were examined using image analysis software to classify the position of the mental foramen according to Fishel's classification, and the χ² test was performed.

Cardiogenic shock (CS) in women is a serious cardiovascular (CV) event associated with a high mortality rate. Non-ischemic etiologies are the most common etiologies in women, such as stress-induced cardiomyopathy, peripartum/postpartum cardiomyopathy, heart failure-related CS, or CS due to myocarditis or valvular heart disease. Although not being the most common etiology in women, acute myocardial infarction is still an important one.
