The title compound, [PdCl2(C18H24N2)]·(CH3)2SO·H2O, the Pd(II) ion is in a distorted square-planar geometry. The Pd-N bond distances are 2.022 (2) and 2.027 (2) Å, the Pd-Cl bond distances are 2.2880 (7) and 2.2833 (7) Å, and the ligand bite angle is 80.07 (9)°. The dimethyl sulfoxide and water mol-ecules form linear chains along [100] by O-H⋯O and O-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, generating eight- and 12-membered rings. C-H⋯Cl inter-actions link the chains, forming a three-dimensional arrangement. In addition, the 4,4-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bi-pyridine ligand exhibits π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.8741 (15) and 3.8353 (15) Å]. The DMSO solvent is disordered and was refined with an occupancy ratio of 0.866 (3):0.134 (3).

This paper investigates the efficient degradation of ciprofloxacin (CIP) in a sustainable γ-valerolactone (GVL) and water (H₂O) mixed system by controlling proton transfer and reducing the self-decay rate of Fe(VI). The kinetic model reveals that the GVL/H₂O system exhibits a rate constant of (9.7 ± 0.

Instant and refrigerated acid soaking are commonly used in cocoon production to prevent or break diapause, and provide developable silkworm eggs for sericulture, while their mechanisms have not been fully understood. This study aims to investigate the mechanisms by which hydrochloric acid (HCl) or dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) promotes embryonic development in silkworm Bombyx mori, focusing on the chloride ion (Cl) related gene expression profiles. Our results revealed that the HCl treatment of up to 6 min enhanced hatchability in freshly picked and cold-stored eggs, whereas a slight decrease in hatchability was observed in those treated with DMSO for 40 min.

Na-Complexed Dendritic Polyglycerols for Recovery of Frozen Cells and Their Network in Media.

Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Korea University, Seoul, 02841, Republic of Korea.

In this study, a novel phenomenon is identified where precise control of topology and generation of polyglycerol induce the retention of Na ions in biological buffer systems, effectively inhibiting ice crystal growth during cryopreservation. Unlike linear and hyperbranched counterparts, densely-packed hydroxyl and ether groups in 4th-generation dendritic polyglycerol interact with the ions, activating the formation of hydrogen bonding at the ice interface. By inhibiting both intra- and extracellular ice growth and recrystallization, this biocompatible dendritic polyglycerol proves highly effective as a cryoprotectant; hence, achieving the cell recovery rates of ≈134-147%, relative to those of 10% dimethyl sulfoxide, which is a conventional cryoprotectant for human tongue squamous carcinoma (HSC-3) cell line and human umbilical vein endothelial (HUVEC) cells.

Exposure to stressful conditions such as forced swim stress (FSS) induces antinociception. Previous reports determined that dopamine receptors in the CA1 hippocampal area are important in chronic pain processing. Considering that neural mechanisms behind acute and chronic pain differ significantly, in this study, we have investigated the role of dopamine receptors within the CA1 region in the FSS-induced antinociceptive response in the acute pain induced by the tail-flick test in the rat.

Elucidating metabolic pathways through genomic analysis in highly heavy metal-resistant strains.

December 2024

Research Laboratory of Environmental Sciences and Sustainable Development, LR18ES32, University of Sfax, Tunisia.

The annotated and predicted genomes of five archaeal strains (AS1, AS2, AS8, AS11 and AS19), isolated from Sfax solar saltern sediments (Tunisia) and affiliated with , were performed by RAST webserver (Rapid Annotation using Subsystem Technology) and NCBI prokaryotic genome annotation pipeline (PGAP). The results showed the ability of strains to use a reduced semi-phosphorylative Entner-Doudoroff pathway for glucose degradation and an Embden-Meyerhof one for gluconeogenesis. They could use glucose, fructose, glycerol, and acetate as sole source of carbon and energy.
