Deciphering the involvement of norepinephrine and β-adrenergic receptor subtypes in glucose induced insulin secretion: an integrated and exploration using isolated pancreatic islets of C57BL/6J mice.

Regulating insulin production by pancreatic beta cells is crucial for maintaining metabolic balance. Previous studies observed elevated neurotransmitter levels, like norepinephrine (NE), in metabolic syndrome mice with impaired insulin secretion. Given the therapeutic potential of β-adrenergic receptors (β-ARs) for diabetes and obesity, and the lack of structural data on murine β-ARs, we aimed to construct and validate 3D models to investigate their roles in insulin secretion regulation.

Background: Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder, accompanied by multiple endocrine neoplasms of the parathyroid, pancreas, pituitary, and other neoplasms in the adrenal glands. However, in some cases, patients clinically diagnosed with MEN1 may be genotype-negative.

Case Presentation: A 56-year-old female was diagnosed with MEN1 based on a macroprolactinoma (19 mm in diameter), primary hyperparathyroidism, and a cortisol-producing adrenal adenoma, without a family history.

Objective: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) is a highly lethal hepatobiliary malignancy with an increasing incidence annually. Extensive research has elucidated the existence of a reciprocal interaction between platelets and cancer cells, which promotes tumor proliferation and metastasis. This study aims to investigate the function and mechanism underlying iCCA progression driven by the interplay between platelets and tumor cells, aiming to provide novel therapeutic strategies for iCCA.

Background: The significance of the systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) in predicting the prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer (PC) has been extensively explored; however, findings remain controversial. As such, this meta-analysis was performed to more precisely determine the utility of the SIRI in predicting PC prognosis.

Methods: A comprehensive literature search of the PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases for relevant studies, published up to June 25, 2024, was performed.

Background: The endothelial activation and stress index (EASIX) serves as a dependable and efficient surrogate marker for endothelial dysfunction, which plays an essential role in the pathophysiology of acute pancreatitis (AP). Hence, we investigated the prognostic value of EASIX in AP.

Methods: This was a retrospective study, using patient information obtained from the Medical Information Market for Intensive Care-IV (MIMIC-IV) database.
