Background: SuperAgers-individuals age 80+ with episodic memory performance at least as good as those 20-30 years younger-provide a unique perspective on cognitive resilience and resistance in aging. The SuperAging Research Initiative (SRI), spearheaded by The University of Chicago and involving multiple academic partners, investigates factors underpinning robust cognitive aging. One key SRI project, leverages a fully remote data collection paradigm to: 1) discern activity patterns that characterize SuperAgers and 2) explore the 'complexity hypothesis in aging'-whether dynamic physiological responsiveness is a hallmark of exceptional cognitive aging.

Background: Preliminary studies on epidural motor cortex stimulation (eMCS) for the treatment of drug-resistant neuropathic pain have supported the extension to novel stimulation waveforms, in particular burstDR. However, only a low level of evidence is available. The aim of this retrospective observational study was to compare the analgesic efficacy of burstDR versus tonic eMCS.

Background: Routine cognitive screening for older adults in primary care could improve AD early detection and streamline referrals for treatment or clinical trials. Digital assessments, especially when self-administered online, can overcome time barriers to cognitive screening in primary care settings and are conducive to repeat testing for disease monitoring and the evaluation of treatment outcomes. We report preliminary data on the feasibility and acceptability of three digital screening approaches for older adults completing annual follow-up visits with a primary care provider (PCP) METHODS: Cognitive screening approaches included: 1) remote online screening with the Boston Online Cognitive Assessment (BOCA) 1-4 weeks prior to the PCP appointment, 2) self-administered BOCA in the waiting room before or after the appointment, and 3) provider-administered screening during the appointment using the Digital Clock and Recall (Linus Health DCR).

Background: Iron is vital for metabolism but can act as a catalyst for oxidative damage. Elevated brain iron, determined from biomarkers of iron (CSF ferritin and quantitative susceptibility mapping MRI) and from post-mortem measurement of brain iron, has been associated with accelerated cognitive decline in multiple Alzheimer's disease (AD) clinical, cohorts. These findings supported the hypothesis that treatment with the brain-permeable iron chelator deferiprone may be associated clinical benefit in AD.

Background: In the context of heightened attention to dementia, research gaps persist in the seamless integration of clinical and non-clinical care, including long-term support. This study aims to examine potential gaps in social support for US adults with cognitive impairment, focusing on the transition before and after a dementia diagnosis.
Methods: In this ambidirectional cohort study, we examined data from the Health and Retirement Survey(HRS) for US adults over 50, using data from 2000 to 2018.
