Host response to environmental exposures such as pathogens and chemicals can include modifications to the epigenome and transcriptome. Improved signature discovery, including the identification of the agent and timing of exposure, has been enabled by advancements in assaying techniques to detect RNA expression, DNA base modifications, histone modifications, and chromatin accessibility. The interrogation of the epigenome and transcriptome cascade requires analyzing disparate datasets from multiple assay types, often at single-cell resolution, derived from the same biospecimen.

Mortality data systems are upstream determinants of health, providing critical information on causes of death and population health trends and influencing health outcomes by shaping policies, research, and resource allocation. Moreover, the gender-related deaths of women and girls are significantly underrepresented or underrecognized in mortality data across many countries. This paper seeks to identify potential barriers and facilitators to improving the representation of femicide data.

This paper is aimed at Cell Site Analysis Expert Witnesses. Ground Truth Data (GTD) are essential to validation exercises, but in the UK access to practitioner-generated Call Data Records (the traces considered by Cell Site Analysis experts) are restricted, reducing opportunities for practitioners to test their understanding against real-world data. This paper outlines methods by which casework material might be used to potentially detect issues within understanding of uncertainties (and therefore improve the reliability of analyses) by reviewing the properties of casework material in parallel with the casework assessment being conducted.

Effectiveness and safety of biosimilars in pediatric inflammatory bowel diseases: an observational longitudinal study on the French National Health Data System.

World J Pediatr

January 2025

EPI-PHARE, French National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety (ANSM) and French National Health Insurance (CNAM), 143-147 Boulevard Anatole France, 93285, Saint-Denis, France.

Background: Data on biosimilar use in pediatric inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are scarce compared to the status of studies in adults, resulting in limitations in its treatment. We compared effectiveness and safety of biosimilars versus originators in this population.

Methods: We used data from the French National Health Data System to identify children (less than 18 years old at treatment initiation) initiating treatment with a biosimilar or the originator infliximab or adalimumab for Crohn's disease (CD) or ulcerative colitis (UC), from first biosimilar launch (January 2015 and October 2018, respectively) to 31 December 2022.
