Background And Objectives: The pharmacokinetics (PK) of piperacillin/tazobactam (PIP/TAZ) is highly variable across different patient populations and there are controversies regarding non-linear elimination as well as the fraction unbound of PIP (f). This has led to a plethora of subgroup-specific models, increasing the risk of misusing published models when optimising dosing regimens. In this study, we aimed to develop a single model to simultaneously describe the PK of PIP/TAZ in diverse patient populations and evaluate the current dosing recommendations by predicting the PK/pharmacodynamics (PD) target attainment throughout life.

Background: As the population ages, hypertension has become the leading risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and premature deaths worldwide. Accurate monitoring of CVD risks and planning community-based public health interventions require reliable estimates of hypertension prevalence and management. While the validity of self-reporting in assessing hypertension prevalence has been debated, the concordance between self-reports and clinical measurements of hypertension control remains underexplored, particularly in large, community-based older populations.

Indocyanine Green Lymphography in Conservative Lymphedema Management: An Exploration of the Impact on Lymphedema Therapy Plans.

Semin Oncol Nurs

December 2024

Occupational Therapy Department, Princess Alexandra Hospital, and The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Objectives: Information from indocyanine green (ICG) lymphography (ICG-L) can be used to guide an individual's lymphedema therapy plan. However, the mechanisms for this clinical translation are not well described. This study proposes a novel clinical decision support tool for translating ICG-L findings into individualized lymphedema therapy plans and describes subsequent changes in plan features of manual lymphatic drainage and compression.

[ACP and Ethics].

Gan To Kagaku Ryoho

December 2024

Graduate School of Health Sciences, Niigata University.

Since the 1970s, medical ethics has evolved from an informal approach to a more structured public discourse. The 4 principles proposed by Beauchamp and Childress in 1979 have gained international recognition and are useful for organizing ethical issues. However, this methodology has its limitations, and dialogue-based ethics are becoming increasingly important.
