In order to demonstrate the potential wider epidemiological application of the data held in coroners' files, this paper uses an analysis of nursing home deaths reported to the coroner in County Kildare, Ireland. We examine the deaths in relation to ages, primary causes of death and rates of post-mortem examination. Knowing that Europe's population is increasing in age, the analyses presented here show the type of information that could be made available relating to certain population cohorts. Currently, there is no easily accessible way to obtain this information in Ireland, so we present the case for the implementation of a central coroner's database with potential for application in other jurisdictions but with the caveat that it must be cost-effective and use current resources, rather than establishing new ones.

Although secondary intention healing (SIH) is a fundamental aspect of postoperative care following Mohs micrographic ssurgery (MMS), it is currently underutilized. SIH constitutes a safe, cost-effective, and versatile method for wound closure. SIH offers multiple advantages, including enhanced cancer surveillance, reduced pain, and promosing esthetic outcomes, particularly not only on certain anatomical regions such as the medial canthus, antihelix, temple, or alar crease, but also for relatively small and superficial defects on the eyelids, ears, lips, and nose, including the alar region, and defects on the hands dorsal regions.

This study was aimed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of pembrolizumab with chemotherapy (pembrolizumab combination therapy) and compare it with standard-of-care platinum-based chemotherapy (chemotherapy alone) as a first-line treatment for metastatic nonsquamous NSCLC from the perspective of Taiwan's third-party-payer public health-care system. We used a partitioned survival model with an estimated time horizon of 10 years. The partitioned survival model uses Kaplan-Meier estimates of progression-free and overall survival from the KEYNOTE-189 clinical trial.

In the face of climate change and increasing urbanisation, ensuring outdoor thermal comfort is becoming an increasingly crucial consideration for sustainable urban planning. However, informed decision-making is limited by the challenge of obtaining high-resolution thermal comfort data. This study introduces an interdisciplinary, low-resource, and user-friendly methodology for thermal comfort mapping, employing a self-built low-cost meteorological device for mobile climate monitoring.

Objective: To investigate the cost-effectiveness of a cardiac rehabilitation program in individuals with stroke compared with customary care.
Design: A Markov model was created using a 30-year time horizon, with cycle lengths of 1 year to determine the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a cardiac rehabilitation program in persons with stroke. Input parameters were based on recently published literature.
