Rift Valley fever (RVF) is a mosquito-borne zoonotic disease characterized by a high rate of abortion in ruminants, and febrile illness, hemorrhagic fever, retinitis and encephalitis in humans. RVF is caused by the RVF virus (RVFV), belonging to the genus of the family . RVFV encodes a major virulence factor, , which is dispensable for viral replication, yet required for evasion of host innate immune responses. RVFV inhibits host gene upregulation at the transcriptional level, while promoting viral translation in the cytoplasm. In this article, we summarize the virology and pathology of RVF, and countermeasure development for RVF, with emphasis on function and applications.

With the increasing intelligence and diversification of communication interference in recent years, communication interference resource scheduling has received more attention. However, the existing interference scenario models have been developed mostly for remote high-power interference with a fixed number of jamming devices without considering power constraints. In addition, there have been fewer scenario models for short-range distributed communication interference with a variable number of jamming devices and power constraints.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a recognized risk factor for cognitive impairment and dementia. Unfortunately, the number of patients with both CKD and dementia has been steadily increasing with the aging patient population. Therapeutic management and clinical decision-making become more challenging in patients with dementia who often experience worsening prognoses, highlighting the urgency of developing effective countermeasures.

Background: Sunitinib resistance is a major challenge in advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Clinically, elucidating the underlying mechanisms and developing practical countermeasures for sunitinib resistance in RCC is desirable. In previous studies, we found that circAGAP1 expression was significantly upregulated in clear cell RCC (ccRCC) and was strongly associated with poor prognosis.

Spaceflight occurs under extreme environmental conditions that pose significant risks to the physical and mental health and well-being of astronauts. Certain factors, such as prolonged isolation, monotony, disrupted circadian rhythms, heavy workload, and weightlessness in space, can trigger psychological distress and may contribute to a variety of mental health problems, including mood and anxiety disturbances. Recent findings regarding spaceflight-associated alterations in cerebrospinal fluid spaces, demonstrating enlargement of the brain's perivascular spaces from preflight to postflight, at least suggest reduced glymphatic clearance in microgravity, and have raised concerns about long-term cognitive health in astronauts.

The generation of forensic DNA profiles consisting of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) is now being facilitated by wider adoption of next-generation sequencing (NGS) methods in casework laboratories. At the same time, and in part because of this advance, there is an intense focus on the generation of SNP profiles from evidentiary specimens for so-called forensic or investigative genetic genealogy (FGG or IGG) applications. However, FGG methods are constrained by the algorithms for genealogical database searches, which were designed for use with single-source profiles, and the fact that many forensic samples are mixtures.
