Adsorptive stripping voltammetry applied to drug analysis: a powerful tool.

J Pharm Biomed Anal

Free University of Brussels (ULB), Pharmaceutical Institute, Belgium.

Published: August 1991

A brief review of the principles and instrumentation of adsorptive stripping voltammetry is presented and the advantages of the method are described. As for many highly sensitive techniques applied to the analysis of complex media, severe interferences may occur. Different approaches can be used to circumvent these problems, exemplified by several applications in biological fluids. The application of modified electrodes to enhance selectivity is discussed.

Exploring wood-derived biochar potential for electrochemical sensing of fungicides mancozeb and maneb in environmental water samples.

The sustainable material, biochar (BC) from a hardwood source, was synthesized via pyrolysis process at 400 °C (BC400) and 700 °C (BC700) and used as a modifier during the electrochemical sensor design. The prepared BCs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis, and elemental analysis (CHNS). The development of rapid analytical techniques for detecting pesticides employing a low-cost carbon paste electrode (CPE) modified with BC is a novel strategy to provide a sensitive response to water pollution.

This article reports on the long-term use, solid bismuth microelectrode arrays for the first time. The presented working microelectrode is characterized by particular advantages compared to bismuth film electrodes and solid single bismuth microelectrodes; these advantages include environmentally friendly properties and the amplification of recorded currents, which are subsequently more resistant to interference. The proposed solid bismuth microelectrode array was applied to develop an adsorptive stripping voltammetric procedure for Sunset Yellow determination.

Highly stable lithium metal anodes enabled by bimetallic metal-organic frameworks derivatives-modified carbon cloth.

College of Energy, Soochow Institute for Energy and Materials Innovations, Soochow University, Suzhou 215006 China. Electronic address:

Lithium (Li) metal anodes hold great promise for next-generation secondary batteries with high energy density. Unfortunately, several problems such as Li dendrite growth, low Coulombic efficiency and poor cycle life hinder the commercialization of Li metal anodes. Herein, we design a highly lithiophilic carbon cloth host modified with Sn-doped zinc oxide (ZnO) (ZnSn-CC) directly derived from a bimetallic ZnSn metal-organic framework (ZnSn-MOF), which boosts uniform Li plating/stripping during charge-discharge and effectively protects the Li metal anode.

rGO/HfO nanocomposite-enabled electrochemical sensor for high-performance pesticide detection.

Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, University of Connecticut, CT, 06269, United States. Electronic address:

This study applies a periodic table-guided approach to select and investigate hafnium oxide (HfO), in conjunction with reduced graphene oxide (rGO), for the electrochemical determination of methyl parathion (MP), an organophosphate insecticide. MP poses significant ecological and health risks due to its high toxicity, and despite bans, illegal use has been reported, especially in the global south. To address these challenges, an electrode modified with a nanocomposite of rGO/HfO was first constructed for MP detection.

Copper (Cu)-based catalysts exhibit distinctive performance in the electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) with complex mechanism and sophisticated types of products. The management of key intermediates *CO and *H is a necessary factor for achieving high product selectivity, but lack of efficient and versatile strategies. Herein, we designed Pt modified Cu catalysts to effectively modulate the competitive coverage of those intermediates.
