Molecular Mechanism Behind the Capture of Fluorinated Gases by Metal-Organic Frameworks.

Nanomicro Lett

January 2025

College of Environmental Science and Engineering, State Key Laboratory of Pollution Control and Resource Reuse, Tongji University, Siping Rd 1239, Shanghai, 200092, People's Republic of China.

Fluorinated gases (F-gases) play a vital role in the chemical industry and in the fields of air conditioning, refrigeration, health care, and organic synthesis. However, the direct emission of waste gases containing F-gases into the atmosphere contributes to greenhouse effects and generates toxic substances. Developing porous materials for the energy-efficient capture, separation, and recovery of F-gases is highly desired.

This study was aim to investigate the effects of lipoic acid (ALA) on performance, meat quality, serum biochemistry and antioxidant function of broilers under heat stress (HS). Two hundred1-day-old Cobb broilers were randomly divided into four treatment groups and each treatment consisted of 4 replicates of 10 broilers each. The treatment group adopts a 2 × 2 two-factor setting, which is divided into two diets (basic diet or 250 mg/kg ALA diet) and two temperatures (24 ± 1℃ or 33 ± 1℃).

Cold stress (CS) is a significant natural hazard, and distinguishing between plant cold resistance and sensitivity is critical for cultivar breeding and the development of germplasm resources. This study used 205 tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) varieties from around the world to investigate the changes in the chlorophyll a fluorescence (OJIP) transients, JIP-test parameters, and seedling growth caused by seven days of CS (5°C) treatment.

Background: Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) was modified by a sulfuric and nitric acid mixed system to improve the solubility of the material and the gas selective permeability of the film. SN1 and SN5, synthesized from mixed acid systems (with ratios of nitric acid and sulfuric acid of 1:1 and 1:5, respectively) were chosen because they had comparable nitro groups but differing sulfonyl groups. To investigate the impact of the type and content of sulfonated and nitrated polyether ether ketone (SNPEEK) on the structure and physicochemical properties of the films, SN1/polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and SN5/polyvinyl chloride films were made by adding varying amounts of SN1 and SN5 (0.

Revisiting the Last Ice Area projections from a high-resolution Global Earth System Model.

Commun Earth Environ

January 2025

Recherche en Prévision Numérique Environnementale/Environnement et Changement Climatique Canada, Dorval, QC Canada.

The Last Ice Area-located to the north of Greenland and the northern Canadian Arctic Archipelago-is expected to persist as the central Arctic Ocean becomes seasonally ice-free within a few decades. Projections of the Last Ice Area, however, have come from relatively low resolution Global Climate Models that do not resolve sea ice export through the waterways of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago and Nares Strait. Here we revisit Last Ice Area projections using high-resolution numerical simulations from the Community Earth System Model, which resolves these narrow waterways.
