Background: The treatment planning for Gamma Knife (GK) stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) that performs dose calculations based on tissue maximum ratio (TMR) algorithm has disadvantages in predicting dose in tissue heterogeneity. The latest version of the planning software is equipped with a convolution dose algorithm as an optional extra and the new algorithm is able to compensate for head inhomogeneity. However, the effect of this improved calculation method requires detailed validation in clinical cases. In this study, we compared absolute and relative dose distributions of treatment plans for acoustic neurinoma between TMR and the convolution calculation.
Methods: Twenty-nine clinically used plans created by TMR algorithm were recalculated by convolution method. Differences between TMR and convolution were evaluated in terms of absolute dose (beam-on time), dosimetric parameters including target coverage, selectivity, conformity index, gradient index, radical homogeneity index and the dose-volume relationship.
Results: The discrepancy in estimated absolute dose to the target ranged from 1 to 7 % between TMR and convolution. In addition, dosimetric parameters of the two methods achieved statistical significance. However, it was difficult to see the change of relative dose distribution by visual assessment on a monitor.
Conclusions: Convolution, heterogeneity correction calculation, and the algorithm are necessary to reduce the dosimetric uncertainty of each case in GK SRS.

Objective: This ancillary study's purpose is to describe the relationship between dose of treatment and body mass index (BMI) outcomes in a tele-behavioral health program delivered in the IDeA States Pediatric Clinical Trials Network to children and their families living in rural communities.
Methods: Participants randomized to the intervention were able to receive 26 contact hours (15 hr of group sessions and 11 hr of individual sessions) of material focused on nutrition, physical activity, and behavioral caregiver training delivered via interactive televideo. Dose of the intervention received by child/caregiver dyads (n = 52) from rural areas was measured as contact hours.

Background: Dialysis vintage is largely dependent on the effectiveness of the delivered dose coupled with the extent of patient compliance with the prescribed treatment regimen. This study assessed the determinants and correlates of dialysis vintage. : This was a 4-year prospective, observational study.

Reddy and Reddy (2014) discuss the optimal timing for lithium levels in patients taking once-daily extended-release lithium formulations. They argue for blood sampling 24 h after the previous dose rather than the standard 12 h. I interpret the data quite differently.

Introduction: Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a cyclical mood disorder that severely affects the daily life of women of reproductive age. Most of the medications being used clinically have limitations such as low efficacy, side effects, and high cost, so there is an urgent need to discover safer and more effective medications. Rutin is a natural flavonol glycoside with various pharmacological properties including antidepressant.

Background: Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a prevalent male sexual disorder, commonly associated with hypertension, though the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood.
Objective: This study aims to explore the role of Fatty acid synthase (Fasn) in hypertension-induced ED and evaluate the therapeutic potential of the Fasn inhibitor C75.
Materials And Methods: Erectile function was assessed by determining the intracavernous pressure/mean arterial pressure (ICP/MAP) ratio, followed by the collection of cavernous tissue for transcriptomic and non-targeted metabolomic analyses.
