In the article, a study of sub-wavelength grating (SWG) nanostructures for broadband and omni-directional anti-reflection coatings (ARCs) on Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) solar cells using the rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA) method is presented. Various SWG nanostructures of different shapes and periodic geometry on CZTS solar cells are discussed in detail. The optimized reflectance decreased to 1.67%, and efficiency increased to 13.74%, accordingly. The omni-directional and broadband antireflections of the SWG nanostructures are also investigated. Under a simulated 1-sun condition and with the light incident angle increased to 80°, cells with SWG nanostructures enhanced the short-circuit current density by 16.5%. This considerable enhancement in light harvesting is attributed to the linearly graded effective refractive index profile from the air to the device surface.

Multimode silicon photonics, leveraging mode-division multiplexing technologies, offers significant potential to increase capacity of large-scale multiprocessing systems for on-chip optical interconnects. These technologies have implications not only for telecom and datacom applications, but also for cutting-edge fields such as quantum and nonlinear photonics. Thus, the development of compact, low-loss and low-crosstalk multimode devices, in particular mode exchangers, is crucial for effective on-chip mode manipulation.

A molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) with magnetic carbon nanotubes (MCNTs) as carrier was synthesized and used for the enrichment and determination of ferulic acid (FA) by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The morphology and structure of the FA magnetic carbon nanotubes-molecularly imprinted polymers (MCNTs@FA-MIPs) were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The results demonstrated that the prepared MCNTs@FA-MIPs had excellent magnetic properties and uniform appearance.

We present a detailed study of the Li ion adsorption on two different hydrogenated carbon nanostructures, namely as pristine graphene (PG) and topologic Stone-Wales defective graphene (SWG) using the density functional theory (DFT). The studies are focused to analyze the structure-stability relationship with the estimated electronic and electrical properties for lithium-ion batteries (LIB) formed with an anode based on the Li/Li#PG and Li/Li#SWG systems. In addition, the electronic effects induced due to Li adsorption and the presence of SW defect on the graphene models were analyzed by the frontier molecular orbitals, ChelpG charges, Raman and UV-Vis spectra.

A global upsurge in emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance (ABR) in bacterial populations is a serious threat for human health. Unfortunately, ABR is no longer confined to nosocomial environments and is frequently reported from community microbes as well. The ABR is resulting in shrinking potent antibiotics pool and thus necessitating novel and alternative therapies and therapeutics.
