Self-reported food allergies (FAs) affect approximately 8% of the US pediatric and approximately 10% of the adult population, which reflects potentially disproportionate increases among ethnically and racially minoritized groups. Multiple gaps and unmet needs exist regarding FA disparities. There is reported evidence of disparities in FA outcomes, and the FA burden may also be disproportionate in low-income families.

Ferulic acid (FA), a phenolic compound abundant in the cell walls of seeds, leaves, and roots of various fruits, vegetables, cereals, and grains, is renowned for its wide range of biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anticancer properties. Despite its therapeutic potential, the clinical application of FA is hindered by challenges such as poor water solubility, limited bioavailability, rapid metabolism, and instability under physiological conditions. To address these issues, nanotechnology has emerged as a transformative approach, enhancing FA's pharmacokinetic profile.

We report a case of a 34-year-old man with fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) presenting with dyspnea, cough, and hoarse voice. The patient was found to have severe pulmonary hypertension secondary to a large atrial septal defect (ASD). In this article, we discuss the challenges patients with FAS and other patients with cognitive impairments face that could explain the first diagnosis of such a large cardiac birth defect being made in the patient's adulthood.

Background Core needle biopsy (CNB) for fibroepithelial lesions (FELs) of the breast is commonly encountered by histopathologists. The distinction between fibroadenoma (FA) and phyllodes tumor (PT) can be challenging due to overlapping histological features and the limited nature of CNB material.  Objective This study aimed to assess the accuracy of CNB diagnosis of FA and PT by comparing it with a diagnosis on subsequent surgical excision specimen.
