Dengue viruses (DENV) are mosquito-borne viruses that cause significant morbidity. The existence of four serotypes of DENV with partial immunologic cross-reactivity creates the opportunity for individuals to experience multiple acute DENV infections over the course of their lifetimes. Research over the past several years has revealed complex interactions between DENV and the human innate and adaptive immune systems that can have either beneficial or detrimental influences on the outcome of infection. Further studies that seek to distinguish protective from pathological immune responses in the context of natural DENV infection as well as clinical trials of candidate DENV vaccines have an important place in efforts to control the global impact of this re-emerging viral disease.

Objectives: Arboviruses pose significant public health threats worldwide, with Southeast Asia being a hotspot for these infections. This study aimed to reassess the incidence of dengue, Zika, and chikungunya viruses in patients clinically diagnosed with dengue in East Java, Indonesia in 2023.
Methods: The study included 108 patients admitted to hospitals in Jember, with blood samples collected on admission.

According to WHO, dengue fever (DF) is currently endemic to more than 100 countries in various regions of Africa, America, and Asia; outbreaks have been reported in Europe. In the Russian Federation, there is a much smaller proportion of children among those infected due to the imported nature of the infection. We described a clinical case of imported dengue fever in an adolescent girl in Moscow after a 5-day vacation.

Phytochemicals are typically natural bioactive compounds or metabolites produced by plants. Phytochemical-loaded nanocarrier systems, designed to overcome bioavailability limitations and enhance therapeutic effects, have garnered significant attention in recent years. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has intensified interest in the therapeutic application of phytochemicals to combat viral infections.

Purpose: Dengue virus, a major global health concern, exhibits significant genetic diversity, leading to distinct serotypes and genotypes. Dengue is the second most common disease spread by mosquitoes that infect humans, after malaria. In recent decades, there has also been a shift in the tendencies of virus transmission from urban to peri-urban and rural settings.

Background: In dengue hyperendemic regions, the evolution of the virus is marked by frequent virus introduction/reintroduction and clade replacement events, occasionally linked to an epidemic outbreak. From 2023 onwards, an increase in the detection of DENV-3 cases has been reported in different regions of Brazil. Thus, molecular and genomic surveillance of circulating DENV strains is crucial for public health preparedness and response efforts for the disease.
