We developed a combined imaging platform allowing optoacoustic and ultrasound imaging based on a low energy laser and a handheld probe. The device is based on a sensitive single element 35-MHz focused transducer, a 2-D piezoscanner and a dual-wavelength switchable Nd:YAG laser. Acoustical detection and optical illumination are confocal for optimization of optoacoustic signal-to-noise ratio. The system allows to scan over a range up to 12 mm ×12 mm in xy-direction with an isotropic lateral resolution of about 90 μm. Although the device is a class 1 laser product having pulse energies in the range, in vivo images of subcutaneous microvasculature could be obtained from human skin with signal-to-noise levels as good as 20 dB.

Thinning of anterolateral thigh flap is challenging. Anatomical studies have shown variations in arterial branching patterns in the subcutaneous layer, which were suspected to be the reason for the high frequency of thinning failures. We attempted to visualize subcutaneous arterial courses preoperatively and perform thinning of perforator flaps using this information appropriately.

Cellulite is an aesthetically distressing skin condition occurring in 80-90% of females and manifesting as dimples and depressions, producing an uneven surface to the skin. Our aim was to evaluate the effect of combined oral consumption of two dietary supplements based on chokeberry and tart cherry juices over a period of 32 days on cellulite reduction. Twenty women aged 21-49 with a cellulite grade of 1-2 according to the Nurnberger-Muller scale were participating in the study.

This study aims to reveal the mechanism of Qijia Rougan Decoction(QJRG) and its disassembled formulas in mitigating hepatic fibrosis via the vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)/serum response factor(SRF)/c-FOS pathway and hepatic sinusoidal capillarization. Male Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats were randomized into a control group(n=6) and a modeling group(n=28). Hepatic fibrosis was induced by subcutaneous injection of 40% carbon tetrachloride(CCl_4) in olive oil.

Background: Hybrid closed-loop systems are a new class of technology to manage type 1 diabetes mellitus. The system includes a combination of real-time continuous glucose monitoring from a continuous glucose monitoring device and a control algorithm to direct insulin delivery through an insulin pump. Evidence suggests that such technologies have the potential to improve the lives of people with type 1 diabetes mellitus and their families.
