In this paper, the dynamic transition of the liquid-crystal-glass transition is investigated by dynamic light scattering, DLS. From the intensity autocorrelation function, g2(q, t), the short-time dynamic function, D(q), has been determined at different concentrations in both the crystal and glass regions. From D(q), the short-time self-diffusion, ds, was determined. ds speeds up in the crystal state but has very similar characteristics in the liquid and the glass region. The general model in which the colloidal crystallization transition in a spherical colloidal system is driven by an increase in local entropy is also verified by relating ds to the local excess entropy. Experimentally determined structure factors, S(q), are also discussed, and we show the similarity between the glass and the liquid. This investigation shows that the liquid-crystal transition can be identified in addition to the appearance of Bragg peaks with a short-time dynamic transition while no sharp transition in the short-time dynamics or S(q) can be found between the glass and the liquid.

Background: The search for effective painkillers has led to intensive research, with a particular focus on the transient receptor potential vanilloid-1 (TRPV1) channel as a possible target.
Methods: One promising candidate is ononin, which is investigated for its binding with TRPV1 through a 200-ns molecular dynamic simulation and analysed via root-meansquare deviation (RMSD), root-mean-square fluctuation (RMSF), hydrogen-bond interactions, radius of gyration (RadGyr), and MM-PBSA energy calculations. The results were further validated experimentally via calcium imaging studies.

Exploring the application of minimally invasive techniques in the extraction of impacted mandibular third molar (IMTM), to achieve the treatment goal of "less trauma, short time, fast recovery", remains the focus of dentists. For now, the IMTM are mostly extracted in pieces after removing the crown and root resistance by bone removal and tooth segmentation, using 45°reverse-angle high speed turbine, piezosurgery, chisel or other dynamic system. However, There is a lack of principle-level parsing in different provinces and primary hospitals, while experience is still the main factor in avoiding excessive bone removal in complex IMTM extraction, as well as optimizing the specific position and angle of the parting teeth, finding the fulcrum and designing the best dislocation path when there is root resistance.

Adaptive value-guided decision-making requires weighing up the costs and benefits of pursuing an available opportunity. Though neurons across frontal cortical-basal ganglia circuits have been repeatedly shown to represent decision-related parameters, it is unclear whether and how this information is coordinated. To address this question, we performed large-scale single-unit recordings simultaneously across 5 medial/orbital frontal and basal ganglia regions as rats decided whether to pursue varying reward payoffs available at different effort costs.

Background: Valid scalable biomarkers for predicting longitudinal clinical outcomes in psychiatric research are crucial for optimizing intervention and prevention efforts. Here we recorded spontaneous speech from initially abstinent individuals with cocaine use disorder (iCUD) for use in predicting drug use outcomes.
Methods: At baseline, 88 iCUD provided 5-minute speech samples describing the positive consequences of quitting drug use and negative consequences of using drugs.

Proactive and holistic safety management approaches should consider multi-modal crash risk. Cyclist crash risk should be prioritized given the high-severity of vehicle-cyclist crashes. Cyclist crash risk is difficult to quantify given the sparse nature of cyclist collisions and collisions in general.
