Introduction: Doxorubicin is a chemotherapeutic drug used to treat various cancers. Exercise training (ET) can attenuate some cardiotoxic effects of doxorubicin (DOX) in tumor-free animals. However, the ET effects on cardiac function and glucose metabolism in DOX-treated breast cancer models remain unclear.

Breast cancer stem cells (CSCs) are difficult to therapeutically target, but continued efforts are critical given their contribution to tumor heterogeneity and treatment resistance in triple-negative breast cancer. CSC properties are influenced by metabolic stress, but specific mechanisms are lacking for effective drug intervention. Our previous work on TFEB suggested a key function in CSC metabolism.

Objective: Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis dysregulation has been implicated in the pathogenesis of perinatal mood disorders. Further, HPA axis response is known to be blunted during breastfeeding. We hypothesized that 1) postpartum depression/anxiety symptoms would be associated with HPA axis dysregulation, indexed by loss of expected adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)-cortisol coupling, and 2) this association would vary by method of infant feeding.

The heterogeneity of tumors and the lack of effective therapies have resulted in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) exhibiting the least favorable outcomes among breast cancer subtypes. TNBC is characterized by its aggressive nature, often leading to high rates of relapse, metastasis, and mortality. Niclosamide (Nic), an Food and Drug Administration-approved anthelmintic drug, has been repurposed for cancer treatment; however, its application for TNBC is hindered by significant challenges, including strong hydrophobicity, poor aqueous solubility, and low bioavailability.
