The zirconia ceramic: strengths and weaknesses.

Open Dent J

Published: May 2014

Metal ceramic restorations were considered the gold standard as reliable materials. Increasing demand for esthetics supported the commercialization of new metal free restorations. A growing demand is rising for zirconia prostheses. Peer-reviewed articles published till July 2013 were identified through a Medline (Pubmed and Elsevier). Emphasizing was made on zirconia properties and applications. Zirconia materials are able to withstand posterior physiologic loads. Although zirconia cores are considered as reliable materials, these restorations are not problem free.

The human skin maintains a comfortable and healthy somatosensory state by sensing different aspects of the thermal environment, including temperature value, heat source, energy level, and duration. However, state-of-the-art thermosensors only measure basic temperature values, not the full range of the thermosensation function of human skin. Here, we propose a heat source recognition () sensor of poly(butyl acrylate)-lithium bis(n-fluoroalkylsulfonyl)imide (PBA-Li:FSI;  = 1, 3, 5), which enables response to temperature, pressure, and proximity stimulus signals based on the relaxation behavior of the ionic gel and distinguished between different types of heat sources (i.

In this study, the specific capacitance characteristics of a carbon nanotube (CNT) supercapacitor was predicted using different machine learning algorithms, such as artificial neural network (ANN), random forest regression (RFR), -nearest neighbors regression (KNN), and decision tree regression (DTR), based on experimental studies. The results of the simulation verified the accuracy of the ANN algorithm with respect to the data derived from the specific capacitance of the supercapacitor module. It was observed that there was a strong correlation between the experimental results and the predictions made by the ANN algorithm.

Floating-gate transistors (FGTs), considered the most promising structure among three-terminal van der Waals (vdW) synaptic transistors, possess superiorities in improved data retention, excellent endurance properties, and multibit storage capacity, thereby overcoming the von Neumann bottleneck in conventional computing architectures. However, the dielectric layer in FGT devices typically depends on atomic layer deposition or mechanically transferred insulators, posing several challenges in terms of device compatibility, manufacturing complexity, and performance degradation. Therefore, it is crucial to discover dielectrics compatible with two-dimensional (2D) materials for further simplifying FGT structures and achieving optimal performance.
