Published: July 2014

A novel route to Δ(2)-isoxazolines is presented via silver-mediated radical cyclization of α-halo ketoximes with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds. This method is performed using a radical strategy, and represents a new example of silver-initiated generation of oxime radicals for the formation of the C(sp(3))-O bonds.

A silver-mediated cascade trifluoromethylthiolation/cyclization of unactivated alkenes has been investigated. This strategy employs AgSCF as the trifluoromethylthiolating reagent to obtain a variety of useful trifluoromethylthiolated tricyclic imidazol derivatives in reasonable yields. Preliminary mechanistic studies indicate that the present reaction takes place a radical process.

Remarkable progress has been made in the radical cascade cyclization of heteroaryl- or aryl-tethered alkenes to construct benzene-fused frameworks via the cracking of aryl C-H bonds. In contrast, the radical cascade cyclization of linear dienes through the cracking of vinyl C-H bonds to construct nonbenzene-fused ring frameworks with endocyclic double bonds has significantly lagged behind, and major advances have largely been restricted to the generation of 5-membered heterocycles, such as pyrrolinones. Herein, we report the silver-mediated regioselective sulfonylation-cyclization of linear dienes with sodium sulfinates to form sulfonylated 6- and 7-membered cyclic enamines.

Reported herein is a novel radical decarboxylation-initiated S2' reaction of β,β-difluoroenol sulfonates. This transformation is characterized by mild reaction conditions, a broad substrate scope, and late-stage modification of drug molecules, providing general and mechanistically distinct access to bioactive and synthetically versatile α,α-difluoroketones. Preliminary mechanistic studies demonstrate that this reaction proceeds through a succession of silver-mediated decarboxylative radical generation and radical-addition-induced β-elimination of the sulfonyl radical.

A facile and efficient method for constructing 2,3-diacyl trisubstituted furans a silver-mediated radical process of β-keto sulfones is developed. The reaction mechanism has been carefully investigated, revealing that the transformation proceeds through a radical pathway, leading to moderate to good yields of desired products.

Decarboxylative C-H silylation of N-heteroarenes with silanecarboxylic acids.

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Yangzhou University, Siwangting Road 180, 225002, Yangzhou, China.

Established decarboxylative Minisci reactions are limited to aliphatic carboxylic acids, as their analogs, silanecarboxylic acids, have been rarely investigated. Herein, we present a new decarboxylative Minisci-type reaction of N-heteroarenes with silanecarboxylic acids under photo- or silver-mediated conditions. This C-H silylation strategy provides efficient access to diverse N-heteroarylsilanes in moderate to excellent yields with high regioselectivity, among which Ag-catalysed decarboxylation of silanecarboxylic acids furnishes an unprecedented method for silyl radical generation.
