Unlabelled: Oral lichen planus and lichenoid reactions are autoimmune type inflammatory conditions of the oral mucosa with similar clinical and histological characteristics. Recent data suggest that oral lichenoid reactions (OLR) present a greater percentage of malignant transformation than oral lichen planus (OLP).
Objective: To compare the expression of bcl-2 and COX-2 in OLP and OLR.
Methods: The study population consisted of 65 cases; 34 cases diagnosed as OLR and 31 as OLP. A retrospective study was done, and bcl-2 and COX-2 expression was semiquantitatively analysed.
Results: Fifty-three per cent (18/34) of the ORL samples tested positive for COX-2, whereas in the OLP group, 81% of the samples (25/31) immunostained positive for COX-2. The Fisher's exact test for the expression of COX-2 revealed that there are significant differences between the two groups, P = 0.035. With respect to the expression of the bcl-2 protein, 76% (26/34) of the samples were positive in OLR, while 97% (30/31) were positive in the group with OLP. The Fisher's exact test for the expression of bcl-2 revealed that there are significant statistical differences between the two groups, P = 0.028.
Conclusions: The expression of bcl-2 and COX-2 was more commonly expressed in OLP when compared with OLR.

Background And Aim: L. has been used medicinally and traditionally since antiquity. This study sought to examine the ethanolic extract (ASEE) in inducing apoptosis in human triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) MDA-MB-231 cells and the molecular interactions of the identified components with cell death markers using method.

Calcium hydroxide nanoparticles (Ca(OH)NPs) possess potent antimicrobial activities and unique physical and chemical properties, making them valuable across various fields. However, limited information exists regarding their effects on genomic DNA integrity and their potential to induce apoptosis in normal and cancerous human cell lines. This study thus aimed to evaluate the impact of Ca(OH)NPs on cell viability, genomic DNA integrity, and oxidative stress induction in human normal skin fibroblasts (HSF) and cancerous hepatic (HepG2) cells.

Interferon regulatory factor 2 (IRF2) is a member of the IRF family that is specifically involved in diverse immune responses via interferon (IFN)/IRF-dependent signaling pathways. In this study, IRF2 of Epinephelus akaara (EAIRF2) was identified and characterized by evaluating its structural and functional properties. EAIRF2 showed the highest homology with IRF2 of Epinephelus coioides and clustered with teleosts in the phylogenetic tree.

Background: Intestinal larva invasion is a crucial step of Trichinella spiralis infection. Intestinal infective larvae (IIL) and their excretory/secretory proteins (ESP) interact with gut epithelium, which often results in gut epithelium barrier injuries. Previous studies showed when T.
