Published: April 2014

The title compound, C16H24Br2O, was synthesized by three steps from β-himachalene (3,5,5,9-tetra-methyl-2,4a,5,6,7,8-hexa-hydro-1H-benzo-cyclo-heptene), which was isolated from essential oil of the Atlas cedar cedrus atlantica. The asymmetric unit contains two independent mol-ecules with almost identical conformations. Each mol-ecule is built up from two fused six-membered rings, one having a chair conformation and the other a boat conformation, and an additional three-membered ring arising from the reaction of himachalene with di-bromo-carbene. In the crystal, there are no significant intermolecular interactions present. The absolute structure of the title compound was confirmed by resonance scattering.

Chemical Science and Engineering Research Team (ERSIC), Department of Chemistry, Polydisciplinary Faculty of Beni Mellal (FPBM), Sultan Moulay Slimane University (USMS), P.O. Box 592 Mghila, Beni Mellal 23000, Morocco.

Aim: This research concerns the patentability of carvacrol; it could be helpful for researchers to easily identify any innovation in the biotechnological application of this monoterpene as well as other similar compounds.

Background: Like thyme or oregano, several plants in the Lamiaceae family produce carvacrol. It is one of the secondary metabolites with several biological activities, including the improvement in plants' resistance and their protection.

Gray mold disease is caused by B. cinerea, which could severely reduce the production yield and quality of tomatoes. To explore more potential fungicides with new scaffolds for controlling the gray mold disease, ten aldehydes-thiourea derivatives were designed, synthesized and assayed for inhibitory activity against three plant pathogenic fungi.

Inserm UMR 1256 Nutrition-Genetics-Environmental Risk Exposure (N-G-ERE), University of Lorraine, Nancy, France.

Limited literature addresses the association between pollution, stress, and obesity, and knowledge synthesis on the associations between these three topics has yet to be made. Two reviewers independently conducted a systematic review of MEDLINE, Embase, and Web of Science Core Collection databases to identify studies dealing with the effects of semi-volatile organic compounds, pesticides, conservatives, and heavy metals on the psychosocial stress response and adiposity in humans, animals, and cells. The quality of papers and risk assessment were evaluated with ToxRTool, BEES-C instrument score, SYRCLE's risk of bias tool, and CAMARADES checklist.

Open frameworks in the NaMn(PO)F fluoro-pyrophosphates system.

Dalton Trans

January 2025

School of Materials Science and Engineering, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Zhenjiang 212100, Jiangsu, China.

Three new sodium manganese fluoro-pyrophosphate compounds, namely, NaMn(PO)F (I), NaMn(PO)F (II), and NaMn(PO)F (III), have been synthesized by heating a mixture of NaPF, NaPOF or NaHPO with different Mn sources in NaNO and KNO fluxes. The structures of the title compounds were characterized single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD). II is characteristic of a shell of Na ions that encloses one [Mn(PO)F] unit, whereas I and III reveal three-dimensional (3D) frameworks that consist of MnO, Mn/NaOF octahedra or MnO octahedra and distorted MnO square pyramids with PO units, where Na cations reside in different-membered ring one-dimensional (1D) tunnels.
