We examined the influence of rock cover, as an indicator of presumable retreat site availability on the abundance of deer mice () and prevalence of Sin Nombre virus (SNV) using long-term live trapping and habitat data from three live trapping grids and a short-term (three month), spatially replicated study across three slopes in Cascade County, Montana. In our long-term study, we found that deer mice were more abundant at a live-trapping grid with greater rock cover, than two grids with less rock cover. There was a non-significant trend( = 0.053) for deer mice to be more abundant in rocky sites in the short term study. In the long-term study, average SNV antibody prevalence among deer mice was slightly greater (5.0 vs. 3.5 % on average) at the live trapping grid with more rock cover, than the grid with less rock cover. We were unable to demonstrate differences in SNV antibody prevalence among treatments in the short-term study. Further studies are needed to elucidate the multiple determinants of deer mouse abundance and SNV prevalence in grassland ecosystem and other habitat types.

Background: To extend the practicality of liquid biopsy beyond the historical HPV circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) assays, we evaluated the clinical relevance of a novel next-generation sequencing HPV ctDNA assay in patients with locally advanced and metastatic squamous cell cancer of the anal canal (mSCCA).
Methods: ctDNA isolated from the plasma of patients with mSCCA was sequenced using a 1.4 Mb hybrid-capture target-enrichment panel covering the whole genome sequences of all 193 HPV types.

It is well recognised that endothermic processes such as dehydration and partial melting have the potential to exert measurable effects on the maximum temperatures reached in metamorphic rock systems. We show migmatitic metapelitic and mafic granulites record temperatures of ~ 820 °C, while spatially associated refractory Mg-Al-rich granulites record temperatures between 865 °C and > 920 °C. These thermally contrasting samples are separated by ~ 1500 m, with no apparent intervening faults or shear zones to explain the apparent difference in peak metamorphic conditions.

: Health and social care systems around the globe are currently undergoing a transformation towards personalized, preventive, predictive, participative precision medicine (5PM), considering the individual health status, conditions, genetic and genomic dispositions, etc., in personal, social, occupational, environmental, and behavioral contexts. This transformation is strongly supported by technologies such as micro- and nanotechnologies, advanced computing, artificial intelligence, edge computing, etc.

Background: To maintain sustainability in the health care system, technology such as social alarms and sensors has been implemented in people's homes with the goal of increasing independent living for elderly and multimorbid health care recipients. When implementing technology, someone needs to monitor and answer the alarms and calls, which is often coined 'telecare'. Many countries have organized telecare service in call centers, which in the health care domain is a service innovation.

Groundwater toxicity and water level depletion are serious concerns today. Assessing groundwater quality (GWQ) is crucial for effective planning and management due to increasing demands for drinking and irrigation water. Therefore, this study aims to analyze groundwater hydrochemistry, variability, and factors influencing quality for drinking and irrigation purposes using indices and models.
