Raman-Polarization-Fluorescence Spectroscopic Lidar for Real-Time Detection of Humic-like Substance Profiles.

Key Laboratory for Semi-Arid Climate Change of the Ministry of Education, College of Atmospheric Sciences, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou 730000, China.

Humic-like substances (HULIS) widely exist in the atmosphere and may strongly affect human health, environment, and climate. However, there are still no accurate methods for detecting the vertical distribution of HULIS. Here, a Raman-Polarization-Fluorescence Spectroscopic Lidar (RPFSL) was developed to simultaneously measure 64-channel broad fluorescence spectra (370-710 nm) of atmospheric aerosols at an excitation wavelength of 355 nm.

Highly Specific Miniaturized Fluorescent Monoacylglycerol Lipase Probes Enable Translational Research.

J Am Chem Soc

March 2025

Leibniz Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie, Campus Berlin-Buch, 13125 Berlin, Germany.

Monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) is the pivotal catabolic enzyme responsible for signal termination in the endocannabinoid system. Inhibition of MAGL offers unique advantages over the direct activation of cannabinoid receptors in treating cancer, metabolic disorders, and inflammatory diseases. Although specific fluorescent molecular imaging probes are commonly used for the real-time analysis of the localization and distribution of drug targets in cells, they are almost invariably composed of a linker connecting the pharmacophore with a large fluorophore.

Objective: To determine if different methods of perfusate instillation influence synovial amikacin concentrations in the radiocarpal joint (RCJ) after IV regional limb perfusion (IVRLP).

Methods: 6 healthy horses received an IVRLP using 2 different methods: (1) 2 g amikacin followed by 52 mL 0.9% NaCl (60 mL total; perfusate-A) and (2) 2 g amikacin diluted to 60 mL with 0.

All-microwave spectroscopy and polarization of individual nuclear spins in a solid.

Pushing the sensitivity of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to the single spin level would have a major impact in chemistry and biology and is the goal of intense research efforts. We report magnetic resonance spectroscopy measurements of individual nuclear spins in a crystal coupled to a neighboring paramagnetic center, detected using microwave fluorescence at millikelvin temperatures. We observe real-time quantum jumps of the nuclear spin state, a proof of their individual nature.

Laser-Polarization-Induced Anisotropy Enhances Protein Crystallization.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

Protein crystallization plays a critical role in structural biology and drug development, driving extensive research into its control. We present a novel approach for manipulating protein crystallization by controlling the anisotropy of the high-concentration domain (HCD) composed of hen egg-white lysozyme (HEWL) through laser polarization in optical trapping. The anisotropy of the HCD was assessed through fluorescence anisotropy measurements and polarized Raman spectroscopy.
