Recent evidence suggests that low molecular weight GTP-binding proteins may play important roles in a variety of membrane transport processes. In order to address the question of whether these proteins are involved in transport processes in the nerve axon, we have assessed their presence in rapid transport membranes from rabbit optic nerve. We report the characterization of a group of low molecular weight GTP-binding proteins which are constituents of rapid transport vesicles. Although these proteins are components of rapid transport vesicles, they are apparently not major rapidly transported species. They are localized in cytosolic as well as in membrane fractions of axons, and the membrane-associated form behaves as an integral membrane protein(s). These proteins are also found in association with a variety of vesicular and organellar components of neurons including coated vesicles, synaptic vesicles, synaptic plasma membranes, and mitochondria. We discuss the possible roles of these proteins in rapid axonal transport and exocytosis.

A novel molecular classification for small cell lung cancer (SCLC) has been established utilizing the transcription factors achaete-scute homologue 1 (ASCL1), neurogenic differentiation factor 1 (NeuroD1), POU class 2 homeobox 3 (POU2F3), and yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1). This classification was predicated on the transcription factors. Conversely, there is a paucity of information regarding the distribution of these markers in other subtypes of pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors (PNET).

The main goal of the current study is to estimate the in vivo anti-inflammatory/antioxidant ability of four selected pharmaceutical compounds: bisoprolol (Biso), piracetam (Pirc), clopidogrel (Clop), and cinnarizine (Cinna). Indomethacin (Indo) was used as a reference drug to perform a realistic comparison between the four compounds and the Indo in vivo through tracking PI3K/AKT signaling and computational chemistry via density functional theory (DFT) modeling to analyze the electrostatic potential across the molecule and provide insight into the regions for receptor binding of the studied compounds. To achieve the safe dose of these compounds, cytotoxicity was performed against isolated adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) using MTT assay.

Background: Both novel anti-human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and pertuzumab and trastuzumab (HP) combined with chemotherapy(C) regimens are the choice of treatment for HER2 positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC) after tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). Our team's previous research has shown significant therapeutic effects of novel anti-HER2 ADCs in patients with TKIs treatment failure. Unfortunately, there is currently no data available to compare novel anti-HER2 ADCs with HP combined with chemotherapy regimens.

Human respiratory and enteric viruses are responsible for substantial morbidity and mortality worldwide. Wastewater-based epidemiology utilizing next-generation sequencing serves as an effective tool for monitoring viral circulation dynamics at the community level. However, these complex environmental samples are often laden with other microorganisms and host genomic material, which can hinder the sensitivity of viral detection.

Background: Limbic-predominant age-related TDP-43 encephalopathy neuropathologic change (LATE-NC) is a common neuropathologic finding at advanced age that associates with hippocampal sclerosis (HS) and is often comorbid with AD pathology. Neuroimaging measurements of LATE-NC-associated limbic degeneration have been proposed as indirect biomarkers, but molecular-specific biomarkers for LATE-NC are still lacking. Here we used combined ante-mortem blood and MRI data to study TDP-43 levels in plasma-derived small extracellular vesicles (sEV-TDP-43) and hippocampal volume (HV) in relation to LATE-NC and HS at autopsy.
