Trogocytosis-mediated immune evasion in the tumor microenvironment.

Exp Mol Med

January 2025

Institute of Advanced Bio-Industry Convergence, Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea.

Trogocytosis is a dynamic cellular process characterized by the exchange of the plasma membrane and associated cytosol during cell-to-cell interactions. Unlike phagocytosis, this transfer maintains the surface localization of transferred membrane molecules. For example, CD4 T cells engaging with antigen-presenting cells undergo trogocytosis, which facilitates the transfer of antigen-loaded major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II molecules from antigen-presenting cells to CD4 T cells.

Anti-Hyperlipidemic, Antioxidant, Anti-Inflammatory and Antidiabetic Effect of Brucine Against Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Nephropathy in Rats.

J Biochem Mol Toxicol

January 2025

Department of General Medicine, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xinjiang Hospital, Urumqi, China.

Among the diabetes-related complications, diabetic nephropathy is the major complication and it leads to end-stage renal failure. In the current investigation, we examined the protection of brucine, an alkaloid extracted from the seeds of Strychnos nux vomica plant widely used in traditional Chinese and Indian medicines against diabetic-induced nephropathy. Male Wistar rats were divided into four groups: control, diabetic rats, diabetic-induced + 40 mg/kg brucine-treated rats, and diabetic-induced + 25 mg/kg metformin-treated rats.

Introduction: Thyroid and salivary gland cytopathology frequently present diagnostic challenges due to complex presentations, overlapping features between benign and malignant conditions, particularly with grey-zone entities and rare pathologies. To address these issues, the 45th European Congress of Cytology (ECC) held a slide seminar focused on challenging cases. This article reviews key findings from the six cases discussed, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive diagnostic approach.

We aimed to determine the efficacy of different post-milking teat dips in the prevention of intramammary infection and teat condition scores in common crossbred cows (Holstein Frisian × Tharparkar) found in Indian sub-tropical conditions. Eighty healthy crossbred cows were selected and randomly divided into four groups: untreated control, 1% w/v iodine, 5% v/v lactic acid and finally essential oil mix (eucalyptus, lavender, peppermint, and tea tree oils). Samples were collected quarter-wise ( = 308).
