Intramolecular homolytic substitution (SHi) on the sulfur atom at acyclic N-(o-bromobenzyl)sulfinamides takes place with a complete inversion of the configuration and provides an excellent tool to connect N-tert-butanesulfinylimines with enantiopure 3-substituted benzo-fused sulfinamides (1,2-benzoisothiazoline 1-oxides) and the related pharmacologically relevant sulfonamides.

The rapid growth of global energy demand accelerates the development of sustainable, clean, and renewable energy sources. Biohydrogen production, driven by functional microorganisms, offers a promising solution. Multiple species of bacteria, fungi, microalgae, and archaea were able to produce hydrogen.

FDX1/2 are cognate substrates of ferredoxin reductase (FDXR) and serve as conduits for electron transfer from NADPH to a set of proteins involved in biogenesis of steroids, hemes, ISC and lipoylated proteins. Recently, we showed that Fdx1 is essential for embryonic development and lipid homeostasis.

Aqueous Zn-S batteries provide competitive energy density for large-scale energy storage systems. However, the cathode active material exhibits poor electrical conductivity especially at the discharged state of ZnS. Its morphology generated in cells thus directly determines the cathode electrochemical activity.

Heavy metal and nitrogen contaminations are serious concerns in aquatic environments. Marichromatium gracile YL28, a marine purple sulfur bacterium, has shown great potential as a bioremediation agent for removing inorganic nitrogen from marine water. This study further investigated its ability to simultaneously absorb heavy metals, including Pb(II), Cu(II), Cd(II) and Cr(VI), and remove inorganic nitrogen.

A novel approach for determining the elemental content of organic matter through thermal gravimetric analysis coupled online with a mass spectrometer (TG-MS) is disclosed. This method not only yields results equivalent to ASTM analysis but also provides insight into the covalent bond structure within the sample. The principle of this technique consists of the combustion of organic matter in an oxygen-enriched environment within the thermogravimetric (TG) system.
