Amphibious Soft Robots Based on Programmable Actuators Fabricated by Brushing Chinese Ink on Paper.

Small

January 2025

Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory of Quantum Manipulation and New Energy Materials, College of Physics and Energy, Fujian Normal University, Fuzhou, 350117, China.

Soft robots based on actuators that can work in both on-ground and on-water situations are environmentally adaptable and can accomplish tasks in complex environments. However, most current amphibious actuators need external stimuli to move on water and require complex preparation processes. Herein, amphibious Ink-paper/polyethylene programmable actuators and robots are proposed, which are fabricated by rapidly brushing Chinese ink on paper.

Recent Progress in Block Copolymer Self-Assembly for the Fabrication of Structural Color Pigments.

Macromol Rapid Commun

December 2024

Institute of new structural materials, School of Materials Science and Engineering, and Key Laboratory of Polymer Chemistry and Physics of Ministry of Education, Beijing, 100871, P. R. China.

The self-assembly of block copolymers (BCPs) into photonic materials has garnered increasing interest due to the versatility and ease of fabrication offered by the synthesized building blocks. BCPs are highly tunable, with their self-assembled structures' size being adjustable by modifying the block lengths, molecular weight(M), and polymer composition. This review provides a concise summary of the use of BCPs as photonic pigments, which generate color through structural manipulation rather than relying on chemical pigmentation.

Unilateral antibacterial Janus hydrogel hemostatic dressing prepared by the dragging effect of a brush.

Colloids Surf B Biointerfaces

March 2025

College of Chemistry and Materials Science, Fujian Normal University, Fuzhou 350007, PR China; Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory of Polymer Materials, Fujian Normal University, Fuzhou 350007, PR China. Electronic address:

Hemostasis and subsequent anti-inflammatory measures are essential for wound healing in the human body following trauma or surgical procedures. Here, we try to use the dragging effect of a brush to prepare a Janus hydrogel with the least amount of bacteriostatic agent. The synthesized suspension of polyvinylbenzene-silica@quaternary ammonium salt (PDVB-SiO@NR) Janus particles (JNPs) was selected as ink and brush coated onto one side of a polyacrylic acid (PAA) hydrogel, resulting in Janus hydrogel (JNPs≌PAA).

Modified histological staining for the identification of arterial and venous segments of brain microvessels.

J Neurosci Methods

September 2024

Department of Neurology, The Second Hospital of Hebei medical university, Shijiazhuang, Hebei 050000, China; Hebei Key Laboratory of Vascular Homeostasis, Shijiazhuang, Heibei 050000, China. Electronic address:

Background: This study aimed to develop a modified histochemical staining technique to successfully identify arterial and venous segments of brain microvessels.

New Method: Gelatin/red ink-alkaline phosphatase-oil red O (GIAO) staining was developed from the traditional gelatin-ink perfusion method. Oil red Chinese ink for brush writing and painting mixed with gelatin was used to label cerebral vascular lumens.

Hufu, serving as evidence of imperial authorization in ancient China, comprises two parts in the form of tiger-shaped tallies that only become effective when matched. Drawing inspiration from the concept of Hufu, a reconfigurable electroluminescent (EL) device is designed by separating conventional integral devices into two parts that contain the EL layer (part A) and the transparent electrode (part B), respectively. The key to realizing such strategy is employing an adhesive and stretchable polymer gel composite as the transparent electrodes for the EL devices.
