In the title compound, C17H18Cl3NO5·H2O, intra-molecular N-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds form S(6) and S(5) ring motifs, respectively. The chiral organic mol-ecule is connected to the solvent water mol-ecule by a short O-H⋯O hydrogen bond. In the crystal, a weak C-H⋯Cl inter-action connects the organic mol-ecules along [100] while the water mol-ecules act as bridges between the organic mol-ecules in both the [100] and [010] directions, generating layers parallel to the ab plane.

The crystal structure of the title organic-inorganic hybrid salt, (CHN)[CdCl], (I), has been reported with four mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit in a monoclinic cell [Vassilyeva (2021 ▸). , , 7713-7722]. While using two different aldehydes in the oxidative cyclization-condensation involving CHNH·HCl to prepare a new monovalent cation with the imidazo[1,5-]pyridinium skeleton, a new polymorph was obtained for (I) in space group 1 and a unit cell with approximately half the volume of the monoclinic form.

Two new phenyl-sulfonyl-indole derivatives, namely, -{[3-bromo-1-(phenyl-sulfon-yl)-1-indol-2-yl]meth-yl}--(4-bromo-3-meth-oxy-phen-yl)benzene-sulfonamide, CHBrNOS, (), and ,-bis-{[3-bromo-1-(phenyl-sulfon-yl)-1-indol-2-yl]meth-yl}benzene-sulfonamide, CHBrNOS, (), reveal the impact of intra-molecular π-π inter-actions of the indole moieties as a factor not only governing the conformation of ,-bis-(1-indol-2-yl)meth-yl)amines, but also significantly influencing the crystal patterns. For , the crystal packing is dominated by C-H⋯π and π-π bonding, with a particular significance of mutual indole-indole inter-actions. In the case of , the mol-ecules adopt short intra-molecular π-π inter-actions between two nearly parallel indole ring systems [with the centroids of their pyrrole rings separated by 3.

The title mol-ecule, CHBrNO, adopts a cup shaped conformation with the distinctly ruffled imidazolidine ring as the base. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π(ring) inter-actions form helical chains of mol-ecules extending along the -axis direction that are linked by additional weak C-H⋯π(ring) inter-actions across inversion centres. The Hirshfeld surface analysis of the crystal structure indicates that the most important contributions for the crystal packing are from H⋯H (51.

The benzimidazole moiety in the title mol-ecule, CHNO, is almost planar and oriented nearly perpendicular to the triazole ring. In the crystal, C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a network structure. There are no π-π inter-actions present but two weak C-H⋯π(ring) inter-actions are observed.

Article Synopsis
  • The molecule CHNO features a non-planar dihydroquinoxaline unit with a slight deviation and a hairpin conformation due to a 2.69° dihedral angle between its ring structures.
  • In the crystal structure, the polar parts of the molecules interact through various hydrogen bonds and interactions involving carbon and oxygen, leading to organized layers.
  • These layers are arranged parallel to the plane of the crystal, with the hydrophobic -octyl groups positioned on the exterior surfaces.
