Tuberculosis (TB) has aptly been called the great mimicker. A 14-year-old boy, who had been treated for Hodgkin's Lymphoma 2 years back and had been in remission, underwent a whole body 18F-fludeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) scan, owing to a recent onset of backache and difficulty in walking. The study showed an FDG avid destructive lesion of the posterior elements of the sixth, seventh and eighth dorsal vertebrae along with a hypermetabolic collection in the adjacent paraspinal muscles with extension into the spinal canal, causing encasement of the thecal sac as well. Based on this constellation of findings, a diagnosis of atypical spinal TB was made, which was subsequently proven on histopathology. The present case illustrates that spinal TB, including the atypical form can be diagnosed on PET/CT even in clinically unsuspected cases.

Mimicking natural organisms to directly fabricate multiresponsive structural color patterns from small molecules is of great significance for information encryption but remains challenging. Herein, we present a bionic entanglement-interlocking microphase separation strategy for in situ growth of multiresponsive structural color patterns within hydrogel matrixes. The precursor solutions of common polymerization-induced phase-separated materials are used as small-molecule nutrients.

The transition from a ballistic to a diffusive regime of heat transfer is studied using two models. The first model is a one-dimensional chain with bonds, capable of dissociation. Interparticle forces in the chain are harmonic for bond deformations below a critical value, corresponding to the dissociation, and zero above this value.

Antibiotic contaminants in food are associated with detrimental health issues, and thus, the design of rapid and reliable detection methods to monitor them is in high demand. This study introduces an innovative bioinspired hydrogel scaffold tailored to facilitate the in-situ integration of hybrid nanoflowers (HNFs) into the sensing interface, thereby establishing a versatile dual-mode platform for the sensitive profiling of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors, a pivotal aspect in the pursuit of Alzheimer's disease therapeutics. Mimicking the tenacious anchoring of natural tree roots, our design employs magnetic bead imprinting with Strep-Tactin-coated magnetic beads (STMBs) to shape the hydrogel, which is then complemented by the integration of AChE-specific aptamers. This configuration creates a stable and biomimetic environment that nurtures HNF growth, thereby enhancing the binding integrity of HNFs with sensing interfaces.
