We have investigated the impact of aqueous suspension of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on performance of repeated PCR, and discussed their thermal impact on DNA characteristics. Both SWCNTs and MWCNTs are found significantly enhancing the specificity of the repeated PCR and capable of inhibition of long DNA thermal degradation. SWCNTs performed a better specificity in repeated PCR than MWCNTs did. MWCNT-DNA binding was more favorable for protecting long DNA from thermal degradation than SWCNT-DNA binding. The results suggested that CNTs are very useful in repeated PCR working on limited amount of DNA resources.

Introduction: Newborn screening (NBS) programs for a defined set of eligible diseases have been enormously successful, but genomic NBS allowing for detection of additional treatable disorders has not been broadly implemented. All 3 types of primary hyperoxaluria (PH1-3) are rare autosomal recessive diseases caused by distinct defects of glyoxylate metabolism that are diagnosed genetically with certainty. Early diagnosis and treatment are mandatory to avoid renal failure or sequalae associated with persistent hyperoxaluria.

Purpose: To report on the clinical and cytopathological features of metastatic lung adenocarcinoma to the eye masquerading as an intermediate uveitis.
Methods: Retrospective chart review.
Results: A 63-year-old woman with a history of lung adenocarcinoma in remission presented with progressive vision loss and floaters in the right eye.

Objective: This is a case report of a COL4A1 gene mutation which was confirmed by further genetic testing following anomalies observed in prenatal ultrasound and fetal brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Case Reports: The ultrasound examination of the patient revealed a mass in fetal left intracranial cavity. Repeated subsequent MRI detected an evolving mass in the left frontal parietal lobe.

Background: Recurrent vaginal discharge is an important cause of repeated visits to the gynaecologists. Failure to correctly identify the causative organism with standard microscopy and culture techniques results in repeated unsuccessful treatment and the risk of developing antibiotic resistance. Multiplex PCR test is increasingly being used for investigating infections where multiple organisms may be involved.

Background: We examined chronic gadolinium retention impact on gene expression in the mouse central nervous system (CNS) after injection of linear or macrocyclic gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs).
Methods: From 05/2022 to 07/2023, 36 female mice underwent weekly intraperitoneal injections of gadodiamide (2.5 mmol/kg, linear), gadobutrol (2.
