Background: Despite use of arterial closure devices (APCDs) and thrombin injection , surgery is needed at times to repair femoral pseudoaneurysms (FPA) in patients undergoing endovascular interventions. We analysed the indications and results of surgical repair in a tertiary referral center performing more than 6.000 angiographies and/or interventions annually.

Objectives: The aim of this retrospective observational study was to identify local and clinical factors related to the need of surgical repair.

Patients And Methods: In this retrospective study, 122 (0.06%) FPAs treated among 21060 patients over a period of five years were assessed. Patient characteristics and therapeutic procedures were analyzed through hospital records.

Results: There were 15.163 (72%) coronary and 5.897 (27%) peripheral interventions, respectively. In 89 (73%) patients, FPA was successfully treated by ultrasound guided compression (USGC) alone.Thirty-three (28%) patients underwent open surgical repair. Indication for operative treatment was hemodynamic instability in 9 (7%) patients, rapidly expanding haematoma unsuitable for USGC or after unsuccessful USGC in 23 (19%). One (0.8%) patient had an arterio-venous fistula. Intraoperative findings suggest that atypical endovascular access (e.g. deep femoral artery, lateral or medial puncture) and multiple puncture sites and/or laceration of the vessel wall were related to the need for surgery in 22 (67%) cases. Most patients had active antithrombotic therapy. Gender or the nature of procedure (diagnostic vs. intervention) did not increase risk for open repair. One (0.8%) patient died. No amputations were performed. Mean hospital stay of patients undergoing open surgical repair was 11 (range 4-36) days.

Conclusions: Technical puncture problems were identified in 2/3 of patients requiring open surgery.

Introduction: Solitary plasmacytomas are tumors characterized by a local increase of malignant plasma cells in soft tissue or bone and may occur anywhere without evidence of systemic disease. The aim was to focus on the main surgical techniques and outcomes for this rare chest wall tumor.

Methods: Patients with solitary plasmacytoma involving a rib, who were operated for diagnostic or treatment purposes between 2018 and 2023 were retrospectively reviewed.

Background: This study evaluates the efficacy of a novel bismuth subgallate-borneol compound ointment as an adjuvant therapy in promoting postoperative healing of infectious incisions after anorectal surgery.

Methods: From June 2023 to October 2023, 46 patients with perianal abscess and anal fistula treated at our institution's Anorectal Surgery Department were enrolled in this prospective randomized controlled study. Patients were randomly allocated into 2 groups: the experimental group (n = 23) received conventional wound care plus a proprietary ointment containing 4.

Case: A 51-year-old male polytrauma patient presented with bilateral calcaneus fractures after a fall. This report describes treatment of his right comminuted Sanders IV calcaneus fracture with percutaneous open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) and minimally invasive surgery (MIS) primary subtalar fusion to restore alignment and preserve soft tissue.

Conclusion: Unlike traditional open approaches, which are prone to wound complications due to larger incisions, our approach of maintaining fracture alignment during joint preparation using an MIS burr for acute posttrauma subtalar arthrodesis and percutaneous ORIF appears to have reduced these risks, resulting in successful radiological healing and functional recovery at 1-year follow-up.

Background: Low-profile double plating seems a viable alternative to conventional single plating for fixation of midshaft clavicle fractures. This study aims to compare the two techniques regarding healing, complications, and removal rate.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included all patients >16 years that underwent plate fixation for midshaft clavicle fractures between 2020 and 2022 at one trauma-center.

Objectives: This retrospective study aimed to investigate the feasibility of surgical closure of ventricular septal defect in children with trisomy 18 by assessing perioperative events and long-term survival.

Methods: From April 2008 to March 2024, 41 consecutive patients were referred to us for ventricular septal defect surgery. The defect was closed in 35 patients at the end (median age, 16 months; median body weight, 5.
